Fuel Pump Ballast Resistor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
2. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
3. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM RH SIDE COVER
4. REMOVE FUEL PUMP RESISTOR
a. Disconnect the connector and clamp from the fuel pump resistor.
b. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the 2 ground wires.
c. Remove the bolt and fuel pump resistor.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL FUEL PUMP RESISTOR
a. Install the fuel pump resistor with the bolt.
Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)
b. Connect the 2 ground wires with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)
c. Connect the connector with the clamp.
2. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM RH SIDE COVER
3. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
4. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
5. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
