Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
2. REMOVE FLOOR UNDER COVER
a. Remove the 5 nuts, 4 clips and floor under cover.
3. REMOVE CANISTER
a. Disconnect the wire harness from the 2 clamps.
b. Disconnect the 2 quick connectors, hose and connector.
NOTE:
- Do not use any tools in this procedure.
- Check for any dirt and foreign matter contamination in the valve and around the connector. Clean if necessary. Foreign matter may damage the O-rings or cause leaks in the seal between the valve and connector.
c. Remove the 4 nuts, 2 spacers and charcoal canister.
d. Disconnect the air inlet line hose from the charcoal canister.
1. Push the hose firmly toward the canister side.
2. Pinch the hose (portion A) as shown in the illustration.
3. Pull out the hose.
NOTE:
- Do not use any tools in this procedure.
- Check for any dirt and foreign matter contamination in the canister and around the hose. Clean if necessary. Foreign matter may damage the O-rings or cause leaks in the seal between the canister and hose.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL CANISTER
a. Connect the air inlet line hose to the charcoal canister.
NOTE:
- Check for damage or foreign objects on the connected part.
- After connecting, check that the vent hose and the valve are securely connected by pulling on them.
b. Install the charcoal canister with the 2 spacers and 4 nuts.
Torque: 14.7 N.m (150 kgf.cm, 11 ft.lbf)
c. Connect the 2 quick connectors, hose and connector.
NOTE:
- Check for damage or foreign objects on the connected part.
- After connecting, check that the vent hose and the valve are securely connected by pulling on them.
d. Connect the wire harness with the 2 clamps.
2. INSTALL FLOOR UNDER COVER
a. Install the floor under cover with the 5 nuts and 4 clips.
3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
4. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
