Drive Belt: Service and Repair
DRIVE BELTCOMPONENTS:
REMOVAL
1. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
2. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
3. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET
(a) Remove the bolt and air cleaner inlet.
4. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT
(a) Rotate the tensioner pulley counterclockwise to loosen the belt tension. Then remove the V-ribbed belt.
NOTICE:
^ The pulley bolt for the belt tensioner has a left-handed thread.
^ Do not perform this procedure from underneath the vehicle, as the tensioner may be damaged.
(b) Insert the 5 mm hexagon wrench into the hole to fix the belt tensioner.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL V-RIBBED BELT
(a) Install the V-ribbed belt.
(b) While turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, remove the 5 mm hexagon wrench.
NOTICE:
^ Put the backside of the V-ribbed belt on the tensioner pulley and idler pulley.
^ Check that the V-ribbed belt is properly set to each pulley.
(c) If it is difficult to install the V-ribbed belt, perform the following procedure.
(1) Put the V-ribbed belt on every part except the tensioner pulley as shown in the illustration.
(2) While releasing the belt tension by turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, put the V-ribbed belt on the tensioner pulley.
NOTICE:
^ Put the backside of the V-ribbed belt on the tensioner pulley and idler pulley.
^ Check that the V-ribbed belt is properly set to each pulley.
2. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET
(a) Install the air cleaner inlet with the bolt.
Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf)
3. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
4. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
