REAR BRAKE

REMOVAL

HINT:
^ Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
^ The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
2. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

NOTICE: Wash brake fluid off immediately if it adheres to any painted surface.





3. REMOVE DISC BRAKE PAD KIT REAR (PAD ONLY)
(a) Remove the pin hold clip and disengage the engaged parts of the anti-squeal spring.
(b) Remove the 2 pad guide pins and anti-squeal spring.
(c) Remove the 2 brake pads with anti-squeal shims.

4. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT
(a) Remove the 2 anti-squeal shims from each pad.





5. DISCONNECT REAR BRAKE FLEXIBLE HOSE
(a) Remove the union bolt and gasket from the rear disc brake cylinder, and then disconnect the flexible hose.





6. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN
(a) Remove the cylinder slide pin and then tilt the disc brake cylinder toward the rear of the vehicle.

7. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and rear disc brake cylinder together with the caliper support bracket.
(b) Remove the 2 No. 1 caliper plates from the caliper support bracket.

INSTALLATION





1. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Install 2 new No. 1 caliper plates to the caliper support bracket.
(b) Install the rear disc brake cylinder together with the caliper support bracket with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 54 N*m (551 kgf*cm, 40 ft.*lbf)





2. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN
(a) Install the rear disc brake cylinder with the cylinder slide pin.
Torque: 25 N*m (250 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf)





3. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT
(a) Apply disc brake grease to both sides of the 2 antisqueal shims.
(b) Install the 2 anti-squeal shims to each brake pad.

NOTICE:
^ When replacing worn pads, the anti-squeal shims must be replaced together with the pads.
^ Install the anti-squeal shims in the correct positions and directions.





4. INSTALL DISC BRAKE PAD KIT REAR (PAD ONLY)
(a) Install the 2 brake pads to the rear disc brake cylinder.
(b) Install the 2 pad guide pins, anti-squeal spring and pin hold clip as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE: Make sure that the engaged parts of the antisqueal spring are installed correctly.





5. CONNECT REAR BRAKE FLEXIBLE HOSE
(a) Connect the flexible hose with the union bolt and a new gasket.
Torque: 30 N*m (306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf)

NOTICE: Install the flexible hose lock securely in the lock hole in the rear disc brake cylinder.

6. DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL (for 3UZ-FE)
7. ADD RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID (for 2GR-FSE)
8. ADD RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID (for 3UZ-FE)
9. BLEED BRAKE LINE (for 2GR-FSE)
10. BLEED REAR BRAKE SYSTEM (for 3UZ-FE)
11. CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL (for 3UZ-FE)
12. CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL (for 2GR-FSE)
13. CHECK AND CLEAR DTC (for 3UZ-FE)
(a) Check and clear the DTC.

14. CHECK AND CLEAR DTC (for 2GR-FSE)
(a) Check and clear the DTC.

15. CHECK FOR BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE
16. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
Torque: 103 N*m (1,050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf)
