Introduction
Proper torque converter installation procedures must be followed when replacing the U660E 6-speed transaxle. A growling noise and/or ATF leak may result if the torque converter is improperly installed. This TSB highlights the measurement procedure for proper torque converter installation.
Applicable Vehicle:
^ 2007 model year ES 350 vehicles equipped with 6-speed automatic transmission.

Repair Procedure
Using vernier calipers and a straightedge, measure the depth of the torque converter from the bell housing mounting surface as shown to the torque converter mounting lugs. Standard measurement: 14 mm (0.55 in.)
HINT:
^ Be sure to deduct the thickness of the straightedge.
^ For easier torque converter installation, tip the top slightly inward while rotating and applying inward pressure.
NOTE:
Internal damage may occur if the torque converter is NOT fully engaged to the oil pump drive gear.
