SHIFT LEVER

REMOVAL
1. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH
2. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH
3. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY
4. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL ASSEMBLY WITH FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE
5. REMOVE HEATER SEAT SWITCH CONSOLE BASE (w/o Seat Heater System)
6. REMOVE HEATER SEAT SWITCH CONSOLE BASE (w/ Seat Heater System)
7. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX POCKET
8. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET
9. REMOVE CONSOLE REAR END PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
10. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY
11. REMOVE NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX DUCT
12. REMOVE NO. 3 CONSOLE BOX DUCT

13. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the end of the transmission control cable from the shift lever assembly.
(b) Disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the shift lever assembly while pushing the 2 claws of the floor shift cable.

14. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the shift lock control ECU connector and transmission control switch wire connector.

(b) Remove the 4 bolts and shift lever assembly.

DISASSEMBLY

1. REMOVE SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON COVER
(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the shift lock release button cover from the position indicator housing assembly.

2. REMOVE INDICATOR LIGHT WIRE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Turn the indicator light guide counterclockwise.

(b) Align the indicator light guide key with the groove on the shift lever assembly to remove the indicator light wire.

Connector Front View:

(d) Using a screwdriver, release the stopper.
(e) Using a screwdriver, disengage the locking lug of terminals (4) and (8), and pull the terminals out from the rear of the connector.
(f) Remove the bulb and cap.

3. REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING ASSEMBLY
(a) Detach the 4 claws and remove the position indicator housing assembly from the lower shift lever assembly.

4. REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR LENS
(a) Detach the 4 claws and remove the position indicator lens from the lower shift lever assembly.

5. REMOVE POSITION INDICATOR SLIDE COVER
(a) Remove the position indicator slide cover from the lower shift lever assembly.

(b) Separate the No. 2 position indicator slide cover from the position indicator slide cover.

6. REMOVE SHIFT LOCK CONTROL ECU
(a) Detach the 3 claws and remove the shift lock control ECU from the lower shift lever assembly.
(b) Disconnect the shift lock solenoid connector.

INSPECTION

Switch Side (Connector Front View):

1. INSPECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH
(a) Measure the resistance between each terminal of the shift lever assembly when the shift lever is moved to each position.

Standard resistance:

If the resistance value is not as specified, replace the shift lock control ECU.

ADJUSTMENT
1. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION
(a) Move the shift lever to the N position.

(b) Remove the nut and transmission control cable from the control shaft lever.

(d) Move the slider in the direction indicated by arrow A and pull up the lock piece in the direction indicated by arrow B.

NOTICE: Do not damage the boot.

(e) Connect the transmission control cable assembly to the control shaft lever with the nut.
Torque: 13 N*m (130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf)

(f) Push in the lock piece.

NOTICE: Firmly push in the lock piece until the slider lock is engaged.

(g) Start the engine and make sure that the vehicle moves forward when moving the lever from the N to the D position and moves rearward when moving it to the R position.

If it becomes hard to move the shift lever, readjust the shift lever position.

REASSEMBLY

1. INSTALL SHIFT LOCK CONTROL ECU
(a) Connect the shift lock solenoid connector.
(b) Attach the shift lock control ECU to the lower shift lever assembly with the 3 claws.

2. INSTALL POSITION INDICATOR SLIDE COVER
(a) Connect the No. 2 position indicator slide cover to the position indicator slide cover.

(b) Install the position indicator slide cover to the lower shift lever assembly.

3. INSTALL POSITION INDICATOR LENS
(a) Attach the position indicator lens to the lower shift lever assembly with the 4 claws.

4. INSTALL POSITION INDICATOR HOUSING ASSEMBLY
(a) Attach the position indicator housing assembly to the lower shift lever assembly with the 4 claws.

5. INSTALL INDICATOR LIGHT WIRE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the bulb and cap.

(b) Connect terminals (4) and (8) of the indicator light wire.
(c) Push the stopper.

(d) Install the indicator light wire to the 2 clamps on the lower shift lever assembly.

(e) Install the indicator light wire into the shift lever assembly while aligning the groove on the unit with the indicator light guide key.
(f) Install the indicator light guide by turning it clockwise until it securely locks.

6. INSTALL SHIFT LOCK RELEASE BUTTON COVER
(a) Install the shift lock release button cover to the position indicator housing assembly.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the 4 bolts and shift lever assembly.
Torque: 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf)

(b) Connect the shift lock control ECU connector and transmission control switch wire connector.

2. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the transmission control cable assembly as shown in the illustration.

HINT:
^ Install the floor shift cable with the uneven surface facing up.
^ Securely engage the claws of the floor shift cable.

3. INSTALL NO. 3 CONSOLE BOX DUCT
4. INSTALL NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX DUCT
5. INSTALL REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY
6. INSTALL CONSOLE REAR END PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
7. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX CARPET
8. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX POCKET
9. INSTALL HEATER SEAT SWITCH CONSOLE BASE (w/o Seat Heater System)
10. INSTALL HEATER SEAT SWITCH CONSOLE BASE (w/ Seat Heater System)
11. INSTALL UPPER CONSOLE PANEL ASSEMBLY WITH FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE
12. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY
13. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH
14. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH
15. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION
16. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION
