Front Passenger Side Knee Airbag Assembly:




FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION: Be sure to read "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTE: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag deployment.

3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER RH
5. REMOVE SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL RH
6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH
7. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
8. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY




a. Remove the 3 bolts.
b. Disconnect the front passenger side knee airbag connector.




c. Disengage the 2 claws and 2 pins, and remove the front passenger side knee airbag assembly.

NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

a. Check that the engine switch is off
b. Check that the battery negative (-) cable is disconnected.

CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.

c. Connect the front passenger side knee airbag connector.

NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.




d. Engage the 2 claws and 2 pins.

HINT: Make sure that the pins are securely installed in the front passenger side knee airbag assembly.




e. Install the front passenger side knee airbag assembly with the 3 bolts.

Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

2. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
3. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH
4. INSTALL SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL R
5. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER RH
6. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

8. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

HINT: Some systems need initialization after reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal.

9. INSPECT FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

10. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
a. Inspect the SRS warning light.
