Driver Side Knee Airbag Assembly

Driver Side Knee Airbag Assembly:




DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION: Be sure to read "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTE: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.

3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH
5. REMOVE SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL LH
6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH
7. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUBASSEMBLY
8. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY




a. Remove the 4 bolts.
b. Disconnect the driver side knee airbag connector.

NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.




c. Disengage the 2 hooks and separate the driver side knee airbag assembly.




d. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the DLC3, and remove the driver side knee airbag assembly.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

a. Check that the engine switch is off.
b. Check that the battery negative (-) cable is disconnected.

CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.




c. Temporarily install the driver side knee airbag assembly with the 2 hooks.




d. Engage the 2 claws and install the DLC3.




e. Install the driver side knee airbag assembly with the 4 bolts.

Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

f. Connect the driver side knee airbag connector.

NOTE:When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

2. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUBASSEMBLY
3. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH
4. INSTALL SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL LH
5. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH
6. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

8. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

HINT: Some systems need initialization after reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal.

9. INSPECT DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

10. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
a. Inspect the SRS warning light.
