Introduction

Some 2007 - 2009 model year ES 350 vehicles may exhibit a condition where the front center console cupholder lid will not open or stay closed when operated. The cupholder assembly and cupholder lid have been improved to correct this condition.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

^ This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.

Repair Procedure





1. Remove both the left and right side instrument panel finish panel ends.





2. Remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly.





3. Remove the upper console panel assembly with front ash tray receptacle.

4. Remove the heater seat switch console cover. Disconnect the seat heater switch connector (if equipped).





5. Remove the console box pocket.





6. Remove the console box carpet.





7. Disengage the 6 claws and remove the console rear end panel sub-assembly.

8. Remove the rear console box assembly.





A. Remove the 2 screws.





B. Remove the 2 bolts.





C. Remove the 2 bolts located on the rear base of the center console.





D. Disengage the 4 clips and remove the rear console box assembly.

E. Disconnect all wire harness connectors and remove the console box from the vehicle.

9. Place the rear console box assembly upside down on a protective work surface.





10. Locate and remove the 3 screws and slide out the trim panel.





11. Loosen and remove the 2 screws on the LH and RH side of the console.





12. Locate and remove the 2 additional screws.

13. Remove the cupholder assembly from the console.





14. Remove the 4 screws that attach the cupholder lid to the cupholder. Save screws for later use.

15. Reassemble the NEW cupholder lid and cupholder together using the previously removed screws.

16. Confirm cupholder operation.

17. Reinstall the cupholder into the console and reinstall into vehicle in reverse order of removal.

18. Confirm operation of cupholder and all electrical connections.
