INTRODUCTION:

Some 2007 - 2008 model year ES 350 customers may complain that the center console door sometimes opens inadvertently. Console door opening can occur when drivers or passengers lay their arms on the button, releasing the door. Follow the procedures in this bulletin to change this condition.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2007 - 2008 model year ES 350 vehicles.

REPAIR PROCEDURES:






1. Open the console compartment door sub-assembly.






2. Slightly deform areas and of the console box assembly inward to disengage the 2 claws. Next, raise the console compartment door sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.






3. Remove the rubber cover at the front end of the door using a small screw driver.






4. Remove the two screws retaining the release button bezel.






5. Remove the release button bezel.






6. Remove the release button using a small screw driver.






7. Install the NEW release button.






8. Install the NEW release button bezel.






9. Reinstall the two release button bezel retaining screws.






10. Install the rubber cover.






11. Assemble the 2 upper console box insulators as shown in the illustration.

CAUTION:
Make sure the upper console box insulators are assembled as shown in the illustration. If they are not assembled properly, the console compartment door may not slide smoothly, or injury may result when the console compartment door slides.







12. Align the 2 claws to the guides and engage the console compartment door sub-assembly to the rail on the console box assembly as shown in the illustration.






12. Check the sliding operation of the console compartment door sub-assembly.
