Wiper Motor: Service and Repair

Windshield Wiper Motor Assy:






WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY

REPLACEMENT

HINT: The installation procedures are the removal procedures in reverse order. However, only installation procedures requiring additional information are included.

1. REMOVE FR WIPER ARM RH
a. Stop the wiper at the automatic stop position.
b. Remove the nut and arm.

2. REMOVE FR WIPER ARM LH
a. Remove the nut and arm.




3. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Detach the 5 claws and remove the 4 clips.




b. Detach the 8 claws and remove the louver.




4. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER LINK ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the 4 bolts and link.




5. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY
a. Using a screwdriver, detach the meshing of the rod at the crank arm pivot of the wiper motor.




b. Remove the nut and washer.
c. Place matchmarks on the crank arm and wiper motor.




d. Remove the 3 bolts and windshield wiper motor from the link.

6. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY
a. Apply MP grease to the crank arm pivot of the wiper motor.
b. Install the wiper motor.

Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)

c. Align the matchmarks on the crank arm and wiper motor.
d. Install the washer and nut.

Torque: 17.2 N.m (175 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)

7. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER LINK ASSEMBLY
a. Install the link with the 4 bolts.

Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)

b. Connect the connector.

8. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER




9. INSTALL FR WIPER ARM LH
a. Stop the wiper at the automatic stop position.
b. Clean the wiper arm serration with a round file or equivalent.
c. Clean the wiper pivot serration with a wire brush.




d. Install the arm & blade with the nut. Make sure that the arm & blade comes to the position shown in the illustration.

Torque: 22 N.m (220 kgf.cm, 16 ft.lbf)

10. INSTALL FR WIPER ARM RH
a. Stop the wiper at the automatic stop position.
b. Scrape off the wiper arm serration with a round file or equivalent.
c. Clean the wiper pivot serration with a wire brush.
d. Install the arm & blade with the nut. Make sure that the arm & blade comes to the position shown in the illustration.

Torque: 22 N.m (220 kgf.cm, 16 ft.lbf)

e. Operate the wipers while spraying water or washer fluid on the windshield. Check the wiping condition and that the wiper does not hit against the vehicle body.
