Replacement
REPLACEMENT
1. REMOVE WHEEL HUB ORNAMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 10 bolts and ornament.
2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
a. Remove the 5 nuts and wheel.
3. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
a. Remove the 5 nuts and wheel.
4. REMOVE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR VALVE SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the valve core and cap, and release air from the tire.
b. After ensuring that air is sufficiently released, remove the nut, washer and outer grommet holding the tire pressure monitor valve and drop the sensor inside the tire.
c. Disengage the bead using the shoe of the tire remover.
NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the tire pressure monitor valve due to interference between the tire pressure monitor valve and tire bead.
d. Remove the bead on the upper side.
e. Take out the tire pressure monitor valve from the tire and remove the bead on the lower side.
f. Remove the inner grommet from the tire pressure monitor valve. Check that the grommet is not cracked or damaged. If necessary, replace the grommet together with the washer and nut.
5. INSTALL TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR VALVE SUB-ASSEMBLY
HINT: When replacing the tire pressure monitor valve, replace it with the one which has the same identification paint collar.
a. Install the inner grommet to the tire pressure monitor valve.
b. Before installing the tire pressure monitor valve, check the following.
1. Check that the tire pressure monitor valve is not deformed or damaged.
If the valve is deformed or damage, repair or replace it.
2. Check whether the rim, grommet, washer and nut are clean.
If necessary, clean them.
NOTICE:
^ Make sure that the tire pressure monitor valve is installed so that the PACIFIC mark on the tire pressure monitor valve is visible.
^ Be careful not to damage the tire pressure monitor valve when pulling it out. A damaged valve interferes signal communication during high-speed driving.
c. Install the outer grommet and washer with the nut.
Torque: 3.0 Nm (31 kgf-cm, 27 inch lbs.)
d. Set the wheel disc to the mounting machine and install the lower tire bead. At this time, position the sensor of the tire pressure monitor valve to the shaded area shown in the illustration.
NOTICE: Do not position the sensor outside this area. Damage may occur to the sensor when it generates interference with the tire bead.
e. Install the upper bead.
NOTICE: Make sure that the tire bead and tool do not interfere with the main body of the sensor, and that the sensor is not clamped by the bead.
6. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
a. Install the wheel with the 5 nuts.
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)
7. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
a. Install the wheel with the 5 nuts.
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)
8. INSTALL WHEEL HUB ORNAMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Install the ornament with the 10 bolts.
Torque: 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft. lbs.)
9. INSPECT TIRE
10. REGISTER TRANSMITTER ID
11. INSPECT TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM
