Safing Sensor: Service and Repair
Airbag Sensor Assy Center:
REPLACEMENT
HINT:
- The installation procedures are the removal procedures in reverse order. However, only installation procedures requiring additional information are included.
- A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.
1. PRECAUTION
Refer to Air Bag Systems; Service Precautions.
2. SHIP MODE SETTING
3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
4. REMOVE DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSEMBLY LH
5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH
6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.1
7. REMOVE CONSOLE UPPER PANEL GARNISH REAR
8. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY UPPER
9. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY
10. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER CENTER
11. SHIP MODE CONFIRMATION
12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.2
13. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY
14. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET
15. REMOVE BOX PANEL NO. 3
16. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY
17. REMOVE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR RECEIVER ASSEMBLY
18. REMOVE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CENTER
a. Remove the 3 clamps from the airbag sensor.
b. Disconnect the 3 airbag sensor connectors.
c. Remove the 3 bolts and airbag sensor.
19. INSTALL AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CENTER
a. Temporarily install the airbag sensor assembly center with the 3 bolts.
b. Tighten the 3 bolts to the specified torque.
Torque: 20 N.m (200 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf)
c. Connect the 3 airbag sensor connectors.
d. Install the 3 clamps to the airbag sensor.
e. Check that there is no free play.
f. Check that the waterproof sheet is properly set.
20. INSPECT AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CENTER
21. INSTALL TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR RECEIVER ASSEMBLY
22. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
23. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative(-) battery terminal.
24. INSPECT SRS WARNING LAMP
