SRS Connectors
SRS CONNECTORSHINT: SRS connectors are located as shown in the illustration.
a. All connectors in the SRS are colored yellow (to distinguish them from other connectors). Some connectors have special functions and are specially designed for the SRS. These connectors use durable gold-plated terminals.and are used in the locations shown above to ensure high reliability.
1. Terminal twin-lock mechanism:
Each connector has a two-piece component consisting of a housing and a spacer. This design enables the terminal to be locked securely by 2 locking devices (the retainer and lance) to prevent terminals from becoming unseated.
2. Activation Prevention Mechanism:
Each connector contains a short spring plate. When the connector is disconnected, the short spring plate automatically connects the positive (+) terminal and the negative (-) terminal of the squib.
3. Electrical connection check mechanism:
This mechanism electrically checks that the connectors are connected correctly and completely. The electrical connection check mechanism is designed so that the disconnection detection pin connects with the diagnosis terminals when the connector housing lock is locked.
DISCONNECTION OF CONNECTORS FOR FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR, SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY AND DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR
a. While holding the sides of the outer, slide the outer in the direction shown by an arrow.
b. Release the connector lock and disconnect the connector.
HINT: Be sure to hold the sides of the outer. Holding the top and bottom will make disconnection difficult.
CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS FOR FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR, SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY AND DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR
a. Align the male connector (of the side of sensor) and female connector in the same direction as shown in the illustration.
b. Connect the male and female connectors. Check that they lock and that a "click" sound is heard.
If they do not lock, the connection is not complete and the connectors will separate.
NOTE:
- Do not hold the outer while connecting the male and female connectors.
- Do not touch the outer while it is moving.
- After the male and female connectors are connected together, try to pull them apart to make sure the connection is secure.
DISCONNECTION OF SIDE AIRBAG CONNECTOR
a. Place a finger on the slider.
b. Slide the slider to release lock.
c. Disconnect the connector.
CONNECTION OF SIDE AIRBAG CONNECTOR
a. Align the lock part of the male connector and the slider of the female connector as shown in the illustration.
b. Connect the male and female connectors. Check that they lock and that a "click" sound is heard.
NOTE:
- Do not touch the slider while it is moving.
- After the male and female connectors are connected together, try to pull them apart to make sure the connection is secure.
- Be careful not to deform the release board. If the release board is deformed, replace it with anew one.
