Horn Button Assembly Replacement

Horn Button Assy:






REPLACEMENT

HINT: The installation procedures are the removal procedures in reverse order. However, only installation procedures requiring additional information are included.
A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.

1. PRECAUTION
Refer to Air Bag Systems; Service Precautions.
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

3. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO. 2
4. REMOVE SWITCH & VOLUME CASE
5. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH MODULATOR

6. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
a. Straighten the front wheels.




b. Using a T30 torx(R) wrench, loosen the 2 screws until the groove along each screw circumference catches on the screw case.




c. Pull out the wheel pad from the horn button.
d. Disconnect the airbag connector and remove the horn button.

CAUTION:
- When storing the horn button, keep the outer surface of the pad facing upward.
- Never disassemble the horn button.

NOTE: When removing the wheel pad, take care not to pull the airbag wire harness.

7. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
a. Connect the airbag connector of the horn button.

NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, do not damage the airbag wire harness.

b. Install the horn button after confirming that the circumference groove of the 2 screws are caught on the screw case.
c. Using a T30 torx(R) wrench, install the 2 screws.

8. INSPECT HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
9. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

10. PERFORM INITIALIZATION

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

11. INSPECT SRS WARNING LAMP
