Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Adjustments

PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSY

ADJUSTMENT
1. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSY
a. Apply the parking brake and turn the ignition switch ON.
b. Depress the brake pedal. Check that the engine starts when the shift lever is on N or P, but does not start when the shift lever is in other positions.
c. Check that the back-up lamp illuminates and the reverse warning buzzer sounds when the shift lever is on R, but do not function when the shift lever is in other positions.
If a failure is found, check the park/neutral position switch resistance.





2. ADJUST PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSY
a. Loosen the bolt of park/neutral position switch and move the shift lever to N.
b. Align the switch groove with the neutral basic line.
c. Hold the switch in position and tighten the bolt.
Torque: 13 Nm (133 kgf-cm, 10 ft. lbs.)
d. After adjustment, repeat step 1.
