Headlamp: Service and Repair
OVERHAULHINT:
- The installation procedures are the removal procedures in reverse order.
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
- A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
2. REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE
3. REMOVE FRONT FENDER LINER LH
4. REMOVE FRONT FENDER LINER RH
5. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER COVER
6. REMOVE HEADLAMP UNIT LH
a. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and clip.
b. Disconnect the connectors.
c. Pull out the unit forward.
7. REMOVE DISCHARGE HEADLAMP BULB
a. Remove the connector from the headlamp socket cover.
b. Turn the headlamp socket cover in the direction of the arrow and pull it out toward the rear of the vehicle.
c. Turn the bulb socket cover in the direction of the arrow and pull it out toward the rear of the vehicle.
d. Release the lock of the set spring as shown in the illustration and remove the bulb.
8. REMOVE HEADLAMP NO. 2 BULB
a. Turn the bulb in the direction of the arrow and pull it out toward the rear of the vehicle.
9. REMOVE HEADLIGHT LEVELING MOTOR
a. Turn the headlight leveling motor in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration to align the notches of the leveling motor and housing. Then partially pull out the motor.
b. Push down the motor to detach it from the reflector claw.
c. Remove the base packing from the leveling motor.
10. REMOVE FRONT TURN SIGNAL LAMP BULB
11. REMOVE CLEARANCE LAMP BULB
12. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
13. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
14. ADJUST HEADLAMP AIMING
