Component Inspection
INSPECTION1. INSPECT SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY RH (ROOF DRIVE MOTOR RH)
a. Apply battery voltage to the drive gear terminals and check the motor operation of the sliding roof drive gear RH.
If the result is not as specified, replace the sliding roof drive gear assembly RH.
b. Apply battery voltage to the drive gear terminals and check the pulse operation of the sliding roof drive gear RH.
1. Connect the electrical tester's positive (+) lead to terminal 5 and negative (-) lead to terminal 4.
2. Connect 5 1.5 V dry cell batteries in series.
3. Connect terminal 6 to the dry cell batteries positive (+) terminal, and terminal 4 to the dry cell batteries negative (-) terminal.
4. Connect the batteries positive (+) lead to terminal 1, and negative (-) lead to terminal 3.
5. Check the output voltage of terminals 4 and 5.
OK: Pulse is generated while motor is running (refer to the graph)
6. Reverse the polarity of terminals 1 and 3.
7. Check the output voltage of terminals 4 and 5.
OK: Pulse is generated during motor running (refer to the graph)
If the result is not as specified, replace the sliding roof drive gear assembly RH with the connectors still connected.
2. INSPECT SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY LH (ROOF DRIVE MOTOR LH)
a. Apply battery voltage to the drive gear terminals and check the motor operation of the sliding roof drive gear LH.
If the result is not as specified, replace the sliding roof drive gear assembly LH.
b. Apply battery voltage to the drive gear terminals and check the pulse operation of the sliding roof drive gear LH.
1. Connect the electrical tester's positive (+) lead to terminal 5 and negative (-) lead to terminal 4.
2. Connect 5 1.5 V dry cell batteries in series.
3. Connect terminal 6 to the dry cell batteries positive (+) terminal, and terminal 4 to the dry cell batteries negative (-) terminal.
4. Connect the batteries positive (+) lead to terminal 1, and negative (-) lead to terminal 3.
5. Check the output voltage of terminals 4 and 5.
OK: Pulse is generated while motor is running (refer to the graph)
6. Reverse the polarity of terminals 1 and 3.
7. Check the output voltage of terminals 4 and 5.
OK: Pulse is generated during motor running (refer to the graph)
If the result is not as specified, replace the sliding roof drive gear assembly LH with the connectors still connected.
3. INSPECT LUGGAGE DOOR DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY RH (LUGGAGE DOOR DRIVE MOTOR RH)
a. Apply battery voltage to the drive gear terminals and check the motor operation of the luggage door drive gear RH.
If the result is not as specified, replace the luggage door drive gear assembly RH.
b. Apply battery voltage to the drive gear terminals and check the pulse operation of the luggage door drive gear RH.
1. Connect the electrical tester's positive (+) lead to terminal 5 and negative (-) lead to terminal 4.
2. Connect 5 1.5 V dry cell batteries in series.
3. Connect terminal 6 to the dry cell batteries positive (+) terminal, and terminal 4 to the dry cell batteries negative (-) terminal.
4. Connect the batteries positive (+) lead to terminal 1, and negative (-) lead to terminal 3.
5. Check the output voltage of terminals 4 and 5.
OK: Pulse is generated while motor is running (refer to the graph)
6. Reverse the polarity of terminals 1 and 3.
7. Check the output voltage of terminals 4 and 5.
OK: Pulse is generated during motor running (refer to the graph)
If the result is not as specified, replace the luggage door drive gear assembly RH with the connectors still connected.
4. INSPECT LUGGAGE DOOR DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY LH (LUGGAGE DOOR DRIVE MOTOR LH)
a. Apply battery voltage to the drive gear terminals and check the motor operation of the luggage door drive gear LH.
If the result is not as specified, replace the luggage door drive gear assembly LH.
b. Apply battery voltage to the drive gear terminals and check the pulse operation of the luggage door drive gear LH.
1. Connect the electrical tester's positive (+) lead to terminal 5 and negative (-) lead to terminal 4.
2. Connect 5 1.5 V dry cell batteries in series.
3. Connect terminal 6 to the dry cell batteries positive (+) terminal, and terminal 4 to the dry cell batteries negative (-) terminal.
4. Connect the batteries positive (+) lead to terminal 1, and negative (-) lead to terminal 3.
5. Check the output voltage of terminals 4 and 5.
OK: Pulse is generated while motor is running (refer to the graph)
6. Reverse the polarity of terminals 1 and 3.
7. Check the output voltage of terminals 4 and 5.
OK: Pulse is generated during motor running (refer to the graph)
If the result is not as specified, replace the luggage door drive gear assembly LH with the connectors still connected.
5. INSPECT LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR ASSEMBLY RH (CLOSE MOTOR RH)
a. Apply battery voltage to the motor terminals and check operation of the luggage closer motor RH.
HINT: Visually check the motor from the direction of the white arrow.
If the result is not as specified, replace the luggage closer motor assembly RH.
6. INSPECT LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR ASSEMBLY LH (CLOSE MOTOR LH)
a. Apply battery voltage to the motor terminals and check operation of the luggage closer motor LH.
HINT: Visually check the motor from the direction of the white arrow.
If the result is not as specified, replace the luggage closer motor assembly LH.
7. INSPECT SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY (ROOF LOCK MOTOR)
a. Apply battery voltage to the driver gear terminals and check operation of the sliding roof drive gear RH.
If the result is not as specified, replace the sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly.
8. INSPECT POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR ASSEMBLY RH (QUARTER WINDOW MOTOR)
a. Apply battery voltage to the motor terminals and check operation of the power window regulator motor RH.
If the result is not as specified, replace the power window regulator motor assembly RH.
9. INSPECT POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR ASSEMBLY LH (QUARTER WINDOW MOTOR)
a. Apply battery voltage to the motor terminals and check operation of the power window regulator motor LH.
If the result is not as specified, replace the power window regulator motor assembly LH.
10. INSPECT PACKAGE TRAY TRIM LINK LH MOTOR ASSEMBLY (PACKAGE TRAY MOTOR)
a. Apply battery voltage to the motor terminals and check operation of the package tray trim link LH motor.
HINT: Visually check the motor from the direction of the white arrow.
If the result is not as specified, replace the package tray trim link LH motor assembly.
11. INSPECT SLIDE ROOF LIMIT SWITCH
a. Measure the resistance of the switch.
If the result is not as specified, replace the slide roof limit switch.
12. INSPECT REMOVABLE ROOF LOCK SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Apply battery voltage to the lock terminals and check operation of the removable roof lock.
If the result is not as specified, replace the removable roof lock sub-assembly.
13. INSPECT SLIDE ROOF LIMIT SWITCH (ROOF CLOSER RH)
a. Measure the resistance of the switch.
If the result is not as specified, replace the slide roof limit switch.
14. INSPECT SLIDE ROOF LIMIT SWITCH (ROOF CLOSER LH)
a. Measure the resistance of the switch.
If the result is not as specified, replace the slide roof limit switch.
15. INSPECT SLIDE ROOF LIMIT SWITCH (ROOF POSITIONS NO. 1, NO. 2)
a. Measure the resistance of the switch (roof position No. 1).
If the result is not as specified, replace the slide roof limit switch. b. Measure the resistance of the switch (roof position No. 2). If the result is not as specified, replace the slide roof limit switch.
16. INSPECT SLIDE ROOF LIMIT SWITCH (ROOF POSITION NO. 3)
a. Measure the resistance of the switch.
If the result is not as specified, replace the slide roof limit switch.
17. INSPECT SLIDE ROOF LIMIT SWITCH (ROOF OPEN)
a. Measure the resistance of the switch. If the result is not as specified, replace the slide roof limit switch (Roof open).
18. INSPECT LIMIT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (LUGGAGE DOOR OPEN, CLOSE)
a. Measure the resistance of the switch (luggage door close).
If the result is not as specified, replace the limit switch assembly.
b. Measure the resistance of the switch (luggage door open).
If the result is not as specified, replace the limit switch assembly.
19. INSPECT LIMIT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (LUGGAGE FRONT LOCK)
a. Measure the resistance of the switch.
If the result is not as specified, replace the limit switch assembly.
20. INSPECT LUGGAGE DOOR CLOSER ASSEMBLY RH (DOOR CLOSER RH)
a. Apply battery voltage to the closer terminals and check operation of the luggage closer RH.
If the result is not as specified, replace the luggage closer.
21. INSPECT LIMIT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (LUGGAGE FRONT LOCK LH)
a. Measure the resistance of the switch.
If the result is not as specified, replace the limit switch.
22. INSPECT LUGGAGE DOOR CLOSER ASSEMBLY LH (DOOR CLOSER LH)
a. Apply battery voltage to the closer terminals and check operation of the luggage closer LH.
If the result is not as specified, replace the luggage closer LH.
23. INSPECT SLIDE ROOF LIMIT SWITCH (PACKAGE TRAY NO. 1)
a. Measure the resistance of the switch.
If the result is not as specified, replace the slide roof limit switch.
24. INSPECT PACKAGE TRAY TRIM ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the P8 tray motor connector.
b. Apply battery voltage to the tray motor terminal and check operation of the package tray trim.
If the result is not as specified, replace the package tray trim assembly.
25. INSPECT SLIDE ROOF LIMIT SWITCH (PACKAGE TRAY NO. 2)
a. Measure the resistance of the switch.
If the result is not as specified, replace the slide roof limit switch.
26. INSPECT LIMIT SWITCH ASSEMBLY (TONNEAU COVER SWITCH)
a. Measure the resistance of the switch.
If the result is not as specified, replace the limit switch assembly.
27. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY (COURTESY SWITCH)
a. Measure the resistance of the switch. If the result is not as specified, replace the luggage compartment door lock assembly.
