Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Service and Repair

ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
REPLACEMENT
1. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER
2. SEPARATE ENGINE ROOM NO.3 R/B
a. Remove the bolt and separate the engine room No.3 R/B.
3. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
4. REMOVE FRONT FENDER LINER
Remove the front fender outside moulding, front fender splash shield and front fender liner LH.
5. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID
a. Draw out fluid with syringe.

NOTICE: Wash brake fluid off immediately if it adheres to any painted surfaces.

6. REMOVE ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET





a. Using SST, disconnect the 6 brake tubes from the ABS & TRACTION actuator assembly with bracket.
SST 09751-36011





b. Use tags or make a memo to identify the places to reconnect.
c. Disconnect the connector from the ABS & TRACTION actuator assembly.





d. Remove bolt A.
e. Remove nut B, then nut C.
f. Remove the ABS & TRACTION actuator assembly with actuator bracket assembly.

NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the brake tubes.

7. REMOVE ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 2 nuts and the ABS & TRACTION actuator assembly from the actuator bracket assembly.
8. INSTALL ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
a. Place the ABS & TRACTION actuator assembly on the actuator bracket assembly and tighten the 2 nuts.
Torque: 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.)
9. INSTALL ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET





a. Place the ABS & TRACTION actuator with bracket on the body.

NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the brake tubes.

b. Tighten bolt A.
Torque: 19 Nm (195 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.)
c. Tighten nut C, then B.
Torque: Nut B, C 19 Nm (195 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.)
d. Connect the ABS & TRACTION actuator assembly connector.





e. Using SST, connect the 6 brake tubes to the ABS & TRACTION actuator assembly.
SST 09751-36011
Torque: 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.)
10. FILL RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID
11. BLEED MASTER CYLINDER
12. BLEED BRAKE LINE
13. CHECK FLUID LEVEL IN RESERVOIR
a. Check the fluid level and add fluid, if necessary.
Fluid: SAE J1703 or JMVSS No. 116 DOT 3
14. CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE
If fluid leaks, tighten or replace the leaking part.
15. CHECK ABS & TRACTION ACTUATOR WITH HAND HELD TESTER
16. CLEAR DTC
17. INSTALL FRONT FENDER LINER
a. Install the front fender liner LH, front fender splash shield and front fender outside moulding.
18. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
19. CONNECT ENGINE ROOM NO.3 R/B
a. Install the engine room No.3 R/B and bolt.
20. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER
21. PERFORM YAWRATE SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION AND TEST MODE
