Clutch Slave Cylinder: Service and Repair

CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER

Components:





REMOVAL
1. SEPARATE CLUTCH ACCUMULATOR ASSEMBLY





a) Remove the 3 bolts and separate the clutch accumulator assembly.

2. DISCONNECT CLUTCH LINE





a) Using SST, disconnect the clutch line.
SST 09023-00101

HINT: Use a container to catch the fluid.

3. REMOVE CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY





a) Remove the 2 bolts and clutch release cylinder.

DISASSEMBLY
1. REMOVE RELEASE CYLINDER PISTON
a) Remove the boot from the cylinder body.
b) Remove the push rod from the cylinder body.





c) Using compressed air, remove the piston together with the spring from the cylinder.

NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the inside of the cylinder body.

2. REMOVE RELEASE CYLINDER BLEEDER PLUG
a) Remove the bleeder plug cap from the bleeder plug.
b) Remove the release cylinder bleeder plug from the cylinder body.

REASSEMBLY
1. INSTALL RELEASE CYLINDER BLEEDER PLUG
a) Install the release cylinder bleeder plug to the cylinder body.
Torque: 11 Nm (112 kgf-cm, 8 ft. lbs.)
b) Install the bleeder plug cap to the bleeder plug.

2. INSTALL RELEASE CYLINDER PISTON





a) Install the spring to the cylinder body.
b) Apply lithium soap base glycol grease to the portions shown in the illustration.
c) Install the piston to the cylinder body.

NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the inside of the cylinder body.

d) Install the push rod to the boot.
e) Install the boot (with push rod) to the cylinder body.

INSTALLATION
1. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY





a) Temporarily tighten the clutch release cylinder with the 2 bolts.

2. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN CLUTCH ACCUMULATOR ASSEMBLY





a) Temporarily tighten the clutch accumulator with the 3 bolts.

3. CONNECT CLUTCH LINE





a) Using SST, connect the clutch line.
SST 09023-00101

Torque: 15 Nm (153 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.)

HINT: Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.81 inch).

4. FULLY TIGHTEN CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY





a) Fully tighten the clutch release cylinder with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.)

5. FULLY TIGHTEN CLUTCH ACCUMULATOR ASSEMBLY





a) Fully tighten the clutch accumulator with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 12 Nm (120 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.)

6. BLEED CLUTCH LINE
a) Fill the brake reservoir with the brake fluid and bleed the clutch system.
Torque: 11 Nm (110 kgf-cm, 8 ft. lbs.)

7. CHECK FOR BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE
a) Check for leakage in the clutch system.

8. INSPECT BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IN RESERVOIR
