Front Suspension

FRONT STABILIZER BAR (for 2WD)

Components:





REMOVAL
1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
2. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER
3. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH





a) Remove the bolt and engine under cover LH.

4. REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH

HINT: Remove the RH side following the same procedure as for the LH side.

5. REMOVE FRONT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR LINK ASSEMBLY
6. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH





a) Remove the 2 nuts and the front stabilizer link assembly LH.

HINT: If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a hexagon (6 mm) wrench to hold the stud.

7. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH

HINT: Remove the RH side following the same procedure as for the LH side.

8. REMOVE FRONT NO.2 STABILIZER BRACKET LH





a) Remove the 2 bolts and the front No.2 stabilizer bracket LH from the front suspension crossmember.

9. REMOVE FRONT NO.2 STABILIZER BRACKET RH

HINT: Remove the RH side following the same procedure as for the LH side.

10. REMOVE FRONT NO.1 STABILIZER BRACKET LH





a) Remove the 4 bolts and the front No.1stabilizer bracket LH from the frame.

11. REMOVE FRONT NO.1 STABILIZER BRACKET RH

HINT: Remove the RH side following the same procedure as for the LH side.

12. REMOVE FRONT NO.1 STABILIZER BAR BUSHING
a) Remove the 2 front No.1stabilizer bar bushings from the front stabilizer bar.

13. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER BAR
a) Remove the front stabilizer bar from the vehicle.

INSPECTION
1. INSPECT FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY





a) Flip the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times as shown in the illustration.
b) Temporarily install the nut, and use a torque wrench to turn the nut continuously at a rate of 2 to 4 seconds per turn. Take the torque reading on the 5th turn.
Turning torque: 0.05 to 1.96 Nm (0.5 to 20 kgf-cm, 0.4 to 17.3 inch lbs.) or less
c) Check the dust cover for cracks or grease leakage. If the value is not within the specified range, replace the front stabilizer link assembly with a new one.

INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER BAR





a) Install the front stabilizer bar to the vehicle.

NOTICE: The identification mark must be on the right side of the vehicle when installing the front stabilizer bar.

2. INSTALL FRONT NO.1 STABILIZER BAR BUSHING





a) Install the 2 front No.1 stabilizer bar bushings as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE: Be sure to install the front No.1stabilizer bar bushings so that the cutouts face the front of the vehicle.

3. INSTALL FRONT NO.1 STABILIZER BRACKET LH





a) Press the front No.1stabilizer bracket LH against the frame toward the outside of the vehicle and temporarily tighten bolt A.
b) Install bolt B, fully tighten bolt A, and then install bolts C and D.
c) Install the skid control sensor wire clamp to the front No.1stabilizer bracket LH.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)

4. INSTALL FRONT NO.1 STABILIZER BRACKET RH

HINT: Install the RH side following the same procedures as for the LH side.

5. INSTALL FRONT NO.2 STABILIZER BRACKET LH





a) Install the front No.2 stabilizer bracket LH on the vehicle with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)

6. INSTALL FRONT NO.2 STABILIZER BRACKET RH

HINT: Install the RH side following the same procedure as for the LH side.

7. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH





a) Install the front stabilizer link assembly LH with the 2 nuts.

Torque: 84 Nm (856 kgf-cm, 62 ft. lbs.)

HINT: If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a hexagon (6 mm) wrench to hold the stud.

8. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH

HINT: Install the RH side following the same procedure as for the LH side.

9. CONNECT FRONT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR LINK ASSEMBLY
10. INSTALL REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH





a) Install the engine under cover LH with the bolt.

11. INSTALL REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH

HINT: Install the RH side following the same procedure as for the LH side.

12. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
13. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL

Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 72 ft. lbs.)

14. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
