Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Service and Repair

BRAKE ACTUATOR

REMOVAL
1. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
2. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
3. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH
4. REMOVE FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR LH
5. REMOVE FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR RH

HINT: Use the same procedures for the RH side and the LH side.

6. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP
7. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARMAND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH
8. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARMAND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH
9. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUBASSEMBLY
10. SEPARATE NO. 3 ENGINE ROOM RELAY BLOCK
11. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
12. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

NOTICE: If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, wash or remove it completely.

13. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUBASSEMBLY
14. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET





a. Release the lock lever and disconnect the actuator connector.
b. Using SST, disconnect the 6 brake tubes from the brake actuator assembly with bracket.

c. Use tags or make a memo to identify the places to reconnect.

HINT:
^ *1: To Front Wheel Cylinder RH
^ *2: To Front Wheel Cylinder LH
^ *3: To Rear Wheel Cylinder RH
^ *4: To Rear Wheel Cylinder LH
^ *5: From Front Master Cylinder
^ *6: From Rear Master Cylinder





d. Using SST, disconnect the No. 3 front brake tube from the flexible hose.

e. Separate the grommet and remove the No. 3 front brake tube.

NOTICE: Do not damage the brake tube.





f. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and brake actuator assembly with bracket from the body.

NOTICE: Do not damage the brake tubes.





15. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR BRACKET ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 2 nuts and the brake actuator from the actuator bracket assembly.
b. Remove the brake actuator bolt cushion and actuator bracket.





16. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR BOLT CUSHION
a. Remove the 2 bolts and the 2 brake actuator bolt cushions from the brake actuator assembly.

INSTALLATION





1. INSTALL BRAKE ACTUATOR BOLT CUSHION
a. Install the 2 brake actuator bolt cushions and 2 bolts to the brake actuator assembly





2. INSTALL BRAKE ACTUATOR BRACKET ASSEMBLY
a. Install the brake actuator bolt cushion with the actuator bracket assembly.
b. Install the brake actuator to the actuator bracket assembly with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.)
3. INSTALL BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET





a. Install the actuator assembly with bracket to the body with the 2 bolts and nut.
Torque: 19 Nm (195 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.)

NOTICE: Do not to damage the brake tubes.





b. Using SST, connect the No. 3 front brake tube to the flexible hose.
SST 09023-00101
Torque: 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.)
c. Install the grommet to the body

NOTICE: Make sure that the grommet is installed correctly.





d. Temporarily tighten each brake tube to the correct positions of the brake actuator assembly with bracket as shown in the illustration.

HINT:

^ *4: To Rear Wheel Cylinder LH
^ *5: From Front Master Cylinder
^ *6: From Rear Master Cylinder





e. Using SST, fully tighten each brake tube.
SST 09023-00101
Torque: 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.)
f. Connect the actuator connector.

NOTICE: Make sure that the connector is locked securely.

4. INSTALL BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUBASSEMBLY
5. INSTALL NO. 3 ENGINE ROOM RELAY BLOCK
6. ADD RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID
7. BLEED BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUBASSEMBLY
8. BLEED BRAKE LINE
9. BLEED BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
10. INSPECT DTC
11. INSPECT FLUID LEVEL IN RESERVOIR
12. INSPECT FOR BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE
13. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)
14. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUBASSEMBLY
15. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH
16. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH
17. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP
18. INSTALL FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR LH
19. INSTALL FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR RH

HINT: Use the same procedures for the RH side and the LH side.

20. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH
21. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
22. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
23. PERFORM YAW RATE SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION
24. INSPECT SENSOR SIGNAL
25. INSPECT ACTUATOR WITH INTELLIGENT TESTER
