REAR STABILIZER BARREMOVAL
1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
2. REMOVE NO.2 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR
3. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH
a) Remove the nut, and separate the rear stabilizer link assembly LH from the rear stabilizer bar. (A)
NOTICE: Be sure to hold the stud bolt using a hexagon wrench 6 in order to prevent the bolt from turning.
b) Remove the bolt, nut, and the stabilizer link assembly LH. (B)
4. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
5. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER BAR
a) Remove the 4 bolts, 2 stabilizer brackets, 2 rear stabilizer bushing, and rear stabilizer bar.
INSPECTION
1. INSPECT REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY
a) Inspect the ball joint (Rear stabilizer bar side).
1) Secure the rear stabilizer link assembly in a vise between aluminum plates.
NOTICE: Do not overtighten the vise.
2) Temporarily install the nut, and flip the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times as shown in the illustration.
3) Use a torque wrench to turn the nut continuously at a rate of 3 to 5 seconds per turn. Take the torque reading on the 5th turn.
Turning torque: 0.05 to 1.96 Nm (0.51 to 20 kgf-cm, 0.04 to 1.44 ft. lbs.) or less
b) Inspect the ball joint (rear No.2 suspension arm assembly side).
1) Secure the rear stabilizer link assembly in a vise between aluminum plates.
NOTICE: Do not overtighten the vise.
2) Temporarily install the nut and bolt, and flip the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times as shown in the illustration.
3) Use a torque wrench to turn the nut continuously at a rate of 3 to 5 seconds per turn. Take the torque reading on the 5th turn.
Turning torque: 2.45 Nm (25 kgf-cm, 1.8 ft. lbs.) or less
If the value is not within the specified range, replace the rear stabilizer link assembly LH with a new one.
c) Check the dust boots for cracks or grease leakage.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL REAR STABILIZER BAR
a) Insert the rear stabilizer bar between the rear suspension member and exhaust tail pipe assembly so that the indication mark on the rear stabilizer bar is on the right of the vehicle.
b) Install the 2 stabilizer bush rear and stabilizer brackets.
NOTICE: Be sure to install the rear stabilizer bush so that the cutout faces the rear of the vehicle.
c) Install the rear stabilizer bar with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 32 Nm (326 kgf-cm, 24 ft. lbs.)
2. INSTALL REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH
a) Install the stabilizer link assembly LH to the rear No.2 suspension arm and height control sensor link bracket with the bolt and nut.
Torque: 27 Nm (275 kgf-cm, 20 ft. lbs.)
b) Install the rear stabilizer link assembly LH with the nut.
Torque: 89 Nm (908 kgf-cm, 66 ft. lbs.)
NOTICE: Be sure to hold the stud bolt using a hexagon wrench 6 in order to prevent the bolt from turning.
3. INSTALL REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
