SST 09616-00011
Preload (turning): 1.0 to 2.0 Nm (10.2 to 20.4 kgf-cm, 8.9 to 17.7 inch lbs.)

HINT: If turning torque is not as specified, replace the power steering gear assembly.

2. INSPECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY LH
a) Secure the tie rod assembly LH in a vise.
b) Install the nut to the stud bolt.
c) Flip the ball joint back and forth 5 times or more.

d) Using a torque wrench, turn the nut continuously at a rate of 3 to 5 seconds per turn and take the torque reading on the 5th turn.
Turning torque: 0.29 to 2.45 Nm (3.0 to 25 kgf-cm, 2.6 to 21.7 inch lbs.)

HINT: If turning torque is not within the specified range, replace the tie rod assembly LH.

3. INSPECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY RH

HINT: Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

REASSEMBLY

NOTICE: When installing, coat the parts indicated by arrows with lithium soap base glycol grease.

1. INSTALL STEERING RACK END SUB-ASSEMBLY
a) Install 2 new claw washers.

HINT: Align the claws of the claw washer with the steering rack grooves.

b) Using 2 SST, install the steering rack end sub assembly (RH side).
SST 09922-10010
Torque: 76 Nm (775 kgf-cm, 56 ft. lbs.)

NOTICE:
^ Use SST09922-10010 following the direction shown in the illustration.
^ Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 345 mm (13.58 inch).
