Yaw Rate Sensor: Service and Repair

YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR

COMPONENTS:

REMOVAL
1. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transmission)
2. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)
3. REMOVE NO. 1 UPPER CONSOLE PANEL GARNISH (for Automatic Transmission)
4. REMOVE NO. 2 UPPER CONSOLE PANEL GARNISH (for Automatic Transmission)
5. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transmission)
6. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)
7. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)
8. REMOVE FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE SUBASSEMBLY
9. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX REGISTER ASSEMBLY
10. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX

11. REMOVE NO. 2 REAR AIR DUCT (for Automatic Transmission)
a. Remove the 2 clips and the No. 2 rear air duct.

12. REMOVE NO. 2 REAR AIR DUCT (for Manual Transmission)
a. Remove the clip and the No. 2 rear air duct.

13. REMOVE YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR
a. Disconnect the yaw rate and acceleration sensor connector.
b. Separate the 2 wire harness clamps.
c. Remove the 2 bolts and yaw and acceleration rate sensor.

NOTICE: Do not remove the sensor from the bracket.

INSPECTION
1. INSPECT YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR
a. Inspect the yaw rate and acceleration sensor. If any of these conditions occur, replace the yaw rate and acceleration sensor with a new one.
- The surface of the yaw rate and acceleration sensor is cracked, dented, or chipped off.
- The connector or wire harness is scratched, cracked, or damaged.
- The yaw rate and acceleration sensor has been dropped.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR
a. Install the yaw rate and acceleration sensor with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 15 Nm (153 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.)

NOTICE:
- Do not damage the yaw rate and acceleration sensor.
- Make sure that the yaw rate and acceleration sensor is installed securely.

b. Install the 2 wire harness clamps.
c. Connect the yaw rate and acceleration sensor connector.

2. INSTALL NO. 2 REAR AIR DUCT (for Automatic Transmission)
a. Install the No. 2 console box duct with the 2 clips.

3. INSTALL NO. 2 REAR AIR DUCT (for Manual Transmission)
a. Install the No. 2 console box duct with the clip.
4. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX
5. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX REGISTER ASSEMBLY
6. INSTALL FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
7. INSTALL REAR CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)
8. INSTALL FRONT CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)
9. INSTALL CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transmission)

10. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Transmission)
a. Turn the shift knob clockwise and install the shift lever knob sub-assembly.

11. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Transmission)
a. Turn the shift knob clockwise and install the shift lever knob sub-assembly.
12. INSTALL NO. 1 UPPER CONSOLE PANEL GARNISH (for Automatic Transmission)
13. INSTALL NO. 2 UPPER CONSOLE PANEL GARNISH (for Automatic Transmission)
14. PERFORM YAW RATE SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION Vehicle Stability Control System (W/O VDIM)
15. INSPECT SENSOR SIGNAL
