Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION CAUTION:
Be sure to read "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing.
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTE: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.

3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE (W/o Illumination)
4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE (W/ Illumination)
5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER
6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL
7. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY




8. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 3 bolts and front passenger side knee airbag assembly.
b. Disconnect the connector.

NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

INSTALLATION




1. INSTALL FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
a. Connect the connector.

NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

b. Install the front passenger side knee airbag assembly with the 3 bolts.

Torque: 10.N.m (10.2kg f.cm, 7ft.lbf)

2. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
3. INSTALL INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL
4. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER
5. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE (W/ Illumination)
6. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE (W/o Illumination)
7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
8. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

HINT: Some systems need initialization after reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal.

9. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
a. Inspect the SRS warning light.
