Title:
TIRE PRESSURE SENSING TRANSMITTER ACTIVATION PROCEDURE
Models:
'06 IS 250 & IS 350
Introduction
A tire pressure sensing transmitter is built into each tire valve. The measured tire pressure data is transmitted through a Tire Pressure Warning System antenna to the Tire Pressure Warning System receiver.
The tire pressure sensing transmitter used for the Tire Pressure Warning System (TPWS) on 2006 model year IS 250 and IS 350 vehicles needs to be activated during Pre-Delivery Service (PDS).
Applicable Vehicles
^ 2006 model year IS 250 and IS 350 vehicles.
Reference Information
NOTE:
^ After all the tire pressure sensing transmitters are activated, the flashing Tire Pressure Warning Light goes OFF.
^ The Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) may be stored in the system until the tire pressure sensing transmitters are activated.
^ The codes will automatically clear when the tire pressure sensing transmitters are activated.
Warranty Information
Required SSTs
NOTE:
Additional Diagnostic Tester Kits, CAN Interface Modules, Program Cards, or other SSTs may be ordered by calling SPX/OTC at 1-800-933-8335.
Activation Procedure
1. Connect the Diagnostic Tester.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the "IG-ON" mode and check that the Low Tire Pressure Warning Light blinks.
3. Press and hold either the right or left side of the satellite switch until the display for ID code selection for tire air pressure appears on the multi-information display. Check that "MAIN" is selected.
4. Remove the cap of the tire valve and press the valve core to reduce the tire inflation pressure rapidly by 6 psi (0.4 kgf/cm2, 40 kPa) or more within 30 seconds. If the tire inflation pressure is NOT reduced by 6 psi (0.4 kgf/cm2, 40 kPa) or more within 30 seconds, the tire pressure sensing transmitters will NOT be activated.
5. Using the Diagnostic Tester, check for Tire Pressure Warning System DTCs.
^ If NO DTCs are stored, proceed to step 7.
^ If DTCs C2111 - C2114 are stored, proceed to step 6.
^ If any other DTCs are stored, refer to the Repair Manual.
6. Turn all the tires (including the spare tire) 90° to 270° degrees and then repeat step 4.
NOTE:
If the DTCs have NOT been erased after repeating step 4, it is possible that the ID codes of the tire pressure sensing transmitters are NOT the same ones that are registered to the ECU (if a set of wheels has been changed).
7. Adjust tire pressure to the specified level. Check that the Low Tire Pressure Warning Light goes OFF.
NOTE:
The tire pressure must be checked COLD, meaning that the car must NOT have been driven at highway speeds for at least 3 hours.
8. Press and hold the left or right side of the satellite switch to display the tire pressure warning initialization, and press and hold the middle of the satellite switch until the Low Tire Pressure Warning Light flashes 3 times. (TIRE PRESSURE INITIAL" is displayed on the multi-information display.)
9. Wait for 20 minutes with the ignition switch in "IG-ON" mode.
