Instrument Cluster / Carrier: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.
2. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Manual Tilt and Telescopic)
3. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic)
4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (w/o Illumination)
5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (w/ Illumination)
6. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH
7. REMOVE SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL LH
8. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Disengage the 2 clips.
b. Remove the 2 screws and remove the instrument cluster finish panel SUB-ASSEMBLY.
10. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
11. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
a. Attach protective tape to the position indicated in the illustration.
b. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
c. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw, pull out the combination meter assembly.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
d. Disconnect the connectors and remove the combination meter assembly as shown in the illustration.
NOTE: Do not damage the instrument panel safety pad or combination meter assembly when removing the combination meter assembly.
12. REMOVE COMBINATION METER GLASS
a. Disengage the 9 claws and remove the combination meter glass.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL COMBINATION METER GLASS
a. Engage the 9 claws and install the combination meter glass.
2. INSTALL COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
a. Position the combination meter assembly on the steering column as shown in the illustration.
NOTE: Do not damage the instrument panel safety pad or combination meter assembly.
b. Connect the connectors.
c. Engage the 2 positioning pins of the combination meter assembly.
d. Engage the 2 claws and install the combination meter assembly.
e. Remove the protective tape.
3. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY
4. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Install the 2 clips.
b. Install the instrument cluster finish panel subassembly with the 2 screws.
5. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
6. INSTALL SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL LH
7. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH
8. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (w/o Illumination).
9. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (w/ Illumination)
10. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Manual Tilt and Telescopic)
11. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic)
12. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
13. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
NOTE: Some systems need initialization after reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal.
