Thermostat: Service and Repair
THERMOSTATCOMPONENTS:
REMOVAL
1. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
2. REMOVE NO. 1 INLET AIR CLEANER
3. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
4. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
5. SEPARATE RADIATOR OUTLET HOSE
a. Disconnect the hose from the water inlet with thermostat.
6. REMOVE WATER INLET WITH THERMOSTAT SUB ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 3 nuts, water inlet with thermostat and gasket.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL WATER INLET WITH THERMOSTAT SUB ASSEMBLY
a. Install a new gasket and the water inlet with thermostat with the 3 nuts.
Torque: 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft. lbs.)
2. CONNECT RADIATOR OUTLET HOSE
a. Connect the radiator outlet hose to the radiator assembly and secure it with the clip.
HINT:
^ Make sure that the claws on the clip are positioned as shown in the illustration.
^ Dimension a in the illustration (between the hose end and the clip end) should be less than 1.0 to 5.0 mm.
^ Connect the hose until it makes contact with the stopper. (Dimension b should be less than 2.5 mm).
3. ADD ENGINE COOLANT
4. START ENGINE
5. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKAGE
6. INSTALL NO. 1 INLET AIR CLEANER
7. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
8. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
