Ignition Coil: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTE: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
3. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH
4. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
5. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET

6. REMOVE V-BANK COVER
a. Remove the 2 nuts and V-bank cover.

7. REMOVE IGNITION COIL




a. Disconnect the ignition coil connector.
b. Remove the bolt and pull out the ignition coil.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL IGNITION COIL




a. Connect a new ignition coil to the spark plug, attach the ignition coil to the cylinder head cover, and install the bolt.
Torque: 7.5 N.m (76 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf)

b. Connect the ignition coil connector.

2. INSTALL V-BANK COVER
3. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET
4. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
5. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH
6. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
8. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
