Fuel Pump: Testing and Inspection
INSPECTION1. INSPECT FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY
a. Inspect the resistance of the fuel pump.
1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2.
Standard resistance: 0.2 to 3.0 Ohms at 20 degrees C (68 degrees F)
If the result is not as specified, replace the fuel pump.
b. Inspect the operation of the fuel pump.
1. Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 1 of the connector, and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2. Check that the fuel pump operates.
NOTE:
- These tests must be performed within 10 seconds to prevent the coil from burning out.
- Keep the fuel pump as far away from the battery as possible.
- Always turn the voltage on and off on the battery side, not the fuel pump side.
