Differential Mount: Service and Repair

DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION

COMPONENTS:

REPLACEMENT
1. REMOVE REAR TIRE
2. DRAIN REAR DIFFERENTIAL OIL
3. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
4. REMOVE REAR PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY
5. SEPARATE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING LH
6. SEPARATE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING RH

HINT: Removal procedure of the RH side is the same as that of the LH side.

7. REMOVE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY LH
8. REMOVE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY RH

HINT: Removal procedure of the RH side is the same as that of the LH side.

9. REMOVE DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR NO. 2
10. REMOVE DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR NO. 1

HINT: Removal procedure of the RH side is the same as that of the LH side.

11. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE LH
12. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE RH

HINT: Removal procedure of the RH side is the same as that of the LH side.

13. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO. 3
14. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO. 2

HINT: Removal procedure of the RH side is the same as that of the LH side.

15. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH
16. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH

HINT: Removal procedure of the RH side is the same as that of the LH side.

17. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER LH
a. Remove the 2 screws and side member cover LH.

18. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER RH

HINT: Removal procedure of the RH side is the same as that of the LH side.

19. DISCONNECT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR REAR LH
a. Disconnect the height control sensor connector.
b. Remove the clamp from the rear suspension member.

20. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER ASSEMBLY
a. Support the rear suspension member with a jack.

HINT: Remove the rear suspension member along with the differential carrier assembly rear.

b. Remove the 8 bolts, 2 rear suspension member stoppers, 2 differential support member stoppers and rear suspension member stopper lowers from the rear suspension member.
c. Lower the jack slowly and remove the rear suspension member with the differential carrier assembly rear.

21. REMOVE REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY

22. REMOVE NO. 1 REAR DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION
a. Using SST, remove the No. 1 rear differential mount cushion.
SST 09570-24010,09316-12010

NOTICE:
^ Do not bring SST into contact with the subframe.
^ Do not slant the bolts of SST.
^ Set the SST in the correct direction.
^ Screw the 2 bolts of SST equally into the 2 holes of the rear differential mount.

23. REMOVE NO. 2 REAR DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION
a. Using SST, remove the No. 2 rear differential mount cushion.
SST 09570-24010,09316-12010

NOTICE:
^ Do not bring SST into contact with the subframe.
^ Do not slant the bolt of SST.
^ Set the SST in the correct direction.

24. INSTALL NO. 1 REAR DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION
a. Using SST, install the No. 1 rear differential mount cushion.

NOTICE:
^ Temporarily install the mount cushion to the member in order to prevent it from tilting and install the SST.
^ Be sure to use the SST with the correct combination.
^ Make sure that the SST contacts the entire circumference of the mount cushion.
^ Be sure to install the mount cushion so that the identification rubber mark is at the bottom.

25. INSTALL NO. 2 REAR DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT CUSHION
a. Using SST, install the No. 2 rear differential mount cushion.

NOTICE:
^ Temporarily install the mount cushion to the member in order to prevent it from tilting and install the SST.
^ Be sure to use the SST with the correct combination.
^ Make sure that the SST contacts the entire circumference of the mount cushion.
^ Be sure to install the mount cushion so that the identification rubber marks are at the right and left.

26. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY

27. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER ASSEMBLY
a. Support the rear suspension member along with the differential using a jack.

HINT: Install the rear suspension member along with the rear differential carrier assembly.

b. Install the 2 rear suspension member stoppers and 2 differential support member stoppers to the rear suspension member.
c. Install the rear suspension member along with the rear suspension member stopper lower with the 8 bolts.
Torque: 127 Nm (1,300 kgf-cm, 94 ft. lbs.) (Bolt A)
Torque: 19 Nm (195 kgf-cm, 14 ft. lbs.) (Bolt B)

28. CONNECT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR REAR LH
a. Install the clamp to the rear suspension member.
b. Connect the height control sensor connector.

29. INSTALL REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER LH.
a. Install the side member cover LH with the 2 screws.

30. INSTALL REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER RH.

HINT: Installation procedure of the RH side is the same as that of the LH side.

31. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH
32. INSTALL REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH.

HINT: Installation procedure of the RH side is the same as that of the LH side.

33. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO. 3.
34. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO. 2.

HINT: Installation procedure of the RH side is the same as that of the LH side.

35. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE LH
36. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE RH

HINT: Installation procedure of the RH side is the same as that of the LH side.

37. INSTALL DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR NO. 2
38. INSTALL DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR NO. 1

HINT: Installation procedure of the RH side is the same as that of the LH side.

39. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING LH
40. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING RH

HINT: Installation procedure of the RH side is the same as that of the LH side.

41. INSTALL REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY LH
42. INSTALL REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY RH

HINT: Installation procedure of the RH side is the same as that of the LH side.

43. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING LH
44. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING RH

HINT: Installation procedure of the RH side is the same as that of the LH side.

45. INSTALL REAR PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY
46. ADD REAR DIFFERENTIAL OIL
47. INSPECT AND ADJUST REAR DIFFERENTIAL OIL
48. INSTALL REAR TIRE
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)

49. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
50. INSPECT PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL
51. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL
52. INSPECT AND ADJUST REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT
53. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAKS
54. CHECK ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL
