Valve Body: Service and Repair
VALVE BODY ASSEMBLYCOMPONENTS:
COMPONENTS:
REMOVAL
CAUTION: When working with FIPG material, perform the following:
^ Using a gasket scraper, remove all the old FIPG material from the gasket surfaces.
^ Thoroughly clean all components to remove any loose material.
^ Clean both sealing surfaces with a non-residue solvent.
^ Apply FIPG in a continuous line (width approximately 1 mm (0.04 inch)) along the sealing surface.
^ Parts must be assembled within 10 minutes of application. Otherwise, the FIPG material must be removed and reapplied.
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
2. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER NO. 2
3. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID
4. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE NO. 1 SUPPORT BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY
5. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER AIR GUIDE BRACKET
6. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY
7. REMOVE VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY
8. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION WIRE
9. REMOVE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 19 bolts and valve body.
b. Separate the lever pin from the manual valve.
c. Remove the check ball body and spring.
NOTICE: Do not drop the check ball body and spring.
DISASSEMBLY
1. REMOVE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE
a. Remove the bolt, lock plate and lock up control solenoid (SLU) and clutch control solenoid (SL2).
b. Remove the bolt and automatic transmission 3-way solenoid (S3).
c. Remove the bolt and automatic transmission 3-way solenoid (S2) and automatic transmission 3-way solenoid (S4).
d. Remove the automatic transmission 3-way solenoid (S1).
e. Remove the bolt and automatic transmission 3-way solenoid (SR).
f. Remove the bolt, lock plate and clutch control solenoid No. 1 (SL1) and line pressure control solenoid (SLT).
REASSEMBLY
1. REMOVE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE
a. Install the clutch control solenoid No. 1 (SL1) and line pressure control solenoid (SLT) with the lock plate and bolt.
Torque: 6.4 Nm (65 kgf-cm, 57 inch lbs.)
b. Install the automatic transmission 3-way solenoid (SR) with the bolt.
Torque: 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft. lbs.)
c. Install the automatic transmission 3-way solenoid (S1).
d. Install the automatic transmission 3-way solenoid (S2) and automatic transmission 3-way solenoid (S4) with the bolt.
Torque: 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft. lbs.)
e. Install the automatic transmission 3-way solenoid (S3) with the bolt.
Torque: 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft. lbs.)
f. Install the lock up control solenoid (SLU) and clutch control solenoid (SL2) with the lock plate and bolt.
Torque: 6.4 Nm (65 kgf-cm, 57 inch lbs.)
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY
a. Install the check ball body and spring.
b. Check the accumulator pistons, check ball body and spring as shown in the illustration.
c. Align the groove of the manual valve with the pin of the lever.
d. Install the 19 bolts.
Torque: 11 Nm (112 kgf-cm, 8 ft. lbs.)
Bolt length:
Bolt A: 25 mm (0.98 inch)
Bolt B: 36 mm (1.42 inch)
Bolt C: 45 mm (1.77 inch)
Bolt D: 50 mm (1.97 inch)
2. CONNECT TRANSMISSION WIRE
3. INSTALL VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY
4. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY
5. INSTALL ENGINE UNDERCOVER AIR GUIDE BRACKET
6. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE NO. 1 SUPPORT BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY
7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
8. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID
9. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER NO. 2
10. RESET MEMORY
11. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
