Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed for the RH side.
- A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. DISCONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY
3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY
4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE
5. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE
6. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LOWER




7. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH
a. Using a screwdriver, detach the 3 clips and claw, and remove the 2 screws and center pillar garnish.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

b. Pull out the outer belt anchor from the center pillar garnish.




8. REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the nut and shoulder anchor.




b. Disconnect the pretensioner connector as shown in the illustration labeled A.
c. Disconnect the tension reducer connector labeled B.
d. Disconnect the pre-collision safety connector labeled C.







e. Remove the 2 bolts and seat belt.




9. REMOVE FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the bolt.
b. Rotate the adjuster approximately 90 degrees. Then pull and remove it.

INSTALLATION

HINT: The installation procedures are the removal procedures in reverse order.




1. INSTALL FRONT SHOULDER BELT ANCHOR ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY
a. Insert the tip of the adjuster into the pillar, and align the adjuster's bolt hole to the pillar's bolt hole.
b. Install the bolt.

Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)




2. INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY
a. Install the seat belt with the 2 bolts. First install the upper bolt, and then install the lower bolt.

Torque: 7.5 N.m (77 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf) for bolt A
42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) for bolt B




b. Connect the pretensioner connector labeled A, as show in the illustration.
c. Connect the tension reducer connector labeled B.
d. Connect the pre-collision safety connector labeled C.




e. Install the shoulder anchor to the shoulder belt anchor adjuster with the nut.

Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)




3. INSTALL CENTER PILLAR GARNISH
a. Pass the outer belt anchor through the center pillar garnish.
b. Attach the 3 clips and and claw to install the garnish. Then, install the 2 screws.

4. INSTALL CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LOWER
5. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE
6. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE
7. INSTALL SEAT ASSEMBLY
8. INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY
9. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
10. PERFORM INITIALIZATION

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

a. Perform initialization.
