Cold Start Injector: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait for least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

3. REMOVE V-BANK COVER
4. DISCONNECT FUEL MAIN TUBE
5. REMOVE FUEL PRESSURE PULSATION DAMPER
6. REMOVE COLD START INJECTOR




a. Disconnect the cold start injector connector.
b. Remove the 2 bolts, gasket, cold start injector from the surge tank.

NOTE: Do not fold or bend the hose.

DISASSEMBLY

1. DISASSEMBLE COLD START INJECTOR




a. Remove the bolt, 2 gaskets and hose from the injector.

REASSEMBLY

1. ASSEMBLE COLD START INJECTOR




a. Install 2 new gaskets and the hose to the cold start injector with the bolt.

Torque: 15 N.m (153 kgf.cm, 11 ft.lbf)

NOTE: Be careful not to damage the gasket.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL COLD START INJECTOR




a. Install a new gasket to the intake air surge tank.

HINT: Align the protrusion of the gasket on the intake air surge tank.




b. Install the cold start injector with the 2 bolts.

Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

NOTE: Do not fold or bend the hose.

2. INSTALL FUEL PRESSURE PULSATION DAMPER
3. DISCONNECT FUEL MAIN TUBE
4. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
5. CHECK FOR FUEL LEAKAGE

a. Start the engine, and check that there are no fuel leaks after performing maintenance anywhere on the system.

6. INSTALL V-BANK COVER
7. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
