Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE FLOOR UNDER COVER




a. Remove the 3 nuts, 6 clips and floor under cover.

3. REMOVE CHARCOAL CANISTER ASSEMBLY




a. Disconnect the connector and detach the 2 clamps.




b. Disconnect the 2 tubes and hose.

1. Disconnect the purge line hose.
2. Disconnect the air inlet line tube from the canister filter.
3. Disconnect the vent line tube from the canister (leak detection pump).




c. Remove the 4 nuts, 4 spacers and charcoal canister assembly.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL CHARCOAL CANISTER ASSEMBLY




a. Install the charcoal canister and 4 spacer with the 4 nuts.

Torque: 14.7 N.m (150 kgf.cm, 11 ft.lbf)




b. Connect the 2 tubes and hose.

1. Connect the air inlet line tube to the canister (leak detection pump).
2. Connect the vent line tube to the canister filter.
3. Connect the purge line hose.




c. Connect the connector with the 2 clamps.

2. INSTALL FLOOR UNDER COVER




a. Install the floor under cover with the 9 clips.

3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
4. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
