TSB REVISION NOTICE:
- May 10, 2007: The information contained in this bulletin supersedes the previous version.
The previous TSB should be discarded.

INTRODUCTION:

Under certain driving conditions, some 2006 model year GS 300 vehicles may exhibit a M.I.L. "ON" with at least one of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs):
- P0172 (System Too Rich [Bank 1])
- P0175 (System Too Rich [Bank 2])
- P2196 (Oxygen [A/F] Sensor Signal Stuck Rich [Bank 1 Sensor 1])
- P2198 (Oxygen [A/F] Sensor Signal Stuck Rich [Bank 2 Sensor 1])
- P0138 (Oxygen Sensor Circuit High Voltage [Bank 1 Sensor 2])
- P0158 (Oxygen Sensor Circuit High Voltage [Bank 2 Sensor 2])
- P0037 (Oxygen Sensor Heater Control Circuit Low [Bank 1 Sensor 2])
- P0057 (Oxygen Sensor Heater Control Circuit Low [Bank 2 Sensor 2])

The oxygen sensor type has been changed from a planar to a cup style oxygen sensor. The Engine Control Module (ECM) (SAE term: Powertrain Control Module/PCM) logic has been modified to accommodate the new oxygen sensor and the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve has been improved to prevent any of the above DTCs from setting.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2006 model year GS 300 vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown below.

WARRANTY INFORMATION:

REQUIRED TOOLS & MATERIAL:

REQUIRED SSTs:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
- If DTCs P0172, P0175, P2196, and/or P2198 are set: Refer to Repair Procedure A.
- If DTCs P0138, P0158, P0037, and/or P0057 are set: Refer to Repair Procedure B.

REPAIR PROCEDURE A:

DTCs P0172, P0175, P2196, and/or P2198:

1. Check the current ECM calibration ID to determine if this TSB was previously performed (see "New Calibration ID" in chart).
- If the ECM contains a previous calibration ID, proceed to step 2.
- If the ECM contains calibration ID 33065200 (2WD) or 33066200 (4WD), refer to TSB2400 "M.I.L. "ON" DTC P0172 & P0175 (Only)".
- If calibration ID 33065300 (2WD) or 33066300 (4WD) is present, this TSB is NOT applicable. Please refer to the Repair Manual for diagnosis.

2. Replace both rear oxygen sensors.

Refer to the Repair Manual within E-TAS / TIS library:
- Division: Lexus
- Model: GS300
- Year: 2006
- Service Category: Engine/Hybrid System
- Section: Emission Control
- Keyword: 3GR-FSE Emission Control: Heated Oxygen Sensor (For Sensor 2): Removal
- Keyword: 3GR-FSE Emission Control: Heated Oxygen Sensor (For Sensor 2): Installation

3. Replace the PCV valve.

Refer to the Repair Manual within E-TAS / TIS library:
