Interior/Lighting - Dome Lamp Comes Loose

DOME LAMP IMPROVEMENT

'06 GS 300 & GS 430

Introduction

The rear dome lamp assembly retaining clips for the 2006 model year GS 300 and GS 430 have been improved in order to ensure positive attachment of the lamp to the dome lamp opening in the headliner.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty:

This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Parts Identification Method

Countermeasure became effective from "54A" for supply parts. Countermeasure parts can be identified by a parts packing date identification code, as shown below.

Repair Procedure

NOTE:
^ When disconnecting the battery, refer to TSIB No. PD020-05, "Power System Initialization During PDS", to ensure that all systems requiring initialization have been completed properly.

^ When disconnecting the room lamp wiring connector, do NOT pull on the wire. Pull on the connector only.

1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.





2. Remove No. 2 Room Lamp Assembly.

A. Using a flat blade screwdriver, or plastic pry tool, detach the claws and remove the light.

NOTE:
Tape screwdriver tip before use.

B. Disconnect the wiring connector.

3. Reinstall wiring connector onto new dome lamp and reinstall part.

A. Slide the forward-most retaining clips into the dome lamp opening in the headliner.

B. Press the rear-most retaining clips into the headliner until the clips positively attach to the headliner.

4. Reconnect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

A. Perform initialization.
