Water Hose Joint

WATER HOSE JOINT

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE V-BANK COVER
3. REMOVE ENGINE REAR COVER
4. DISCONNECT HEATER BLOWER WIRE
5. REMOVE WATER BY-PASS GLOW PLUG
6. REMOVE HEATER BLOWER WIRE




a. Disconnect the connector.

HINT: If the engine block heater bracket needs to be replaced, disconnect it from the connector.

NOTE: Be careful not to damage the plastic connector's lock tab.

b. Remove the 2 bolts and wire.

7. DISCONNECT NO. 7 WATER BY-PASS HOSE




a. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clamp and slide the clamp to disconnect the water hose.

HINT:
- Before disconnecting the hose, check the clamp position so that it can be reinstalled in the same position.
- Collect the engine coolant in a container.

8. DISCONNECT NO. 8 WATER BY-PASS HOSE




a. Using pliers, grip the claws of the clamp and slide the clamp to disconnect the water hose.

HINT:
- Before removing the hose, check the clamp position so that it can be reinstalled in the same position.
- Collect the engine coolant in a container.

9. REMOVE WATER HOSE JOINT




a. Remove the bolt and hose joint.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL WATER HOSE JOINT




a. Connect the hose joint with the bolt to the surge tank.

Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

2. CONNECT NO. 8 WATER BY-PASS HOSE




a. Connect the water hose.
b. Attach the clamp on the clamp track portion of the hose.

3. CONNECT NO. 7 WATER BY-PASS HOSE




a. Connect the water hose.
b. Attach the clamp on the clamp track portion of the hose.

4. INSTALL HEATER BLOWER WIRE




a. When replacing the engine block heater bracket: Connect the bracket to the heater blower wire connector.
b. Install the wire with the 2 bolts and connect the connector.

Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

NOTE: When the bracket is tightened by the bolt, make sure there is a safe amount of clearance between the bracket end and the water hose joint surface.

5. INSTALL WATER BY-PASS GLOW PLUG
6. CONNECT HEATER BLOWER WIRE
7. INSTALL ENGINE REAR COVER
8. INSTALL V-BANK COVER
9. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
10. ADD ENGINE COOLANT
11. WARM UP ENGINE
12. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS
13. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
