Introduction
Production changes have been made to the glove box door on 2006 model year GS 300 and GS 430 vehicles in order to reduce occurrences of the door not opening when the lock release button is pressed. Replacement of the glove box door and the door lock cover is necessary to facilitate this repair.
Applicable Vehicles

Applicable Warranty:
This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
Parts Identification
Countermeasure became effective from "5C22T" for supply parts. Countermeasure parts can be identified by parts after the date code below.
Repair Procedure
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
2. Remove the glove box door. Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), 2006 model year GS 300 or GS 430 Repair Manual: Instrument Panel: Instrument Panel Safety Pad: Removal.
3. Remove the glove box door lock by removing 2 Phillips head screws from the rear of the door assembly.
4. Using a flat blade screwdriver, pry off the key cylinder lock cover.
5. Remove the key cylinder from the housing and set aside.
6. Reinstall the original key cylinder into the new glove box door assembly and attach a new key cylinder lock cover.
7. Reinstall the glove box in reverse order.
A. Reconnect any disconnected connectors.
B. Verify that all panels fit together properly with NO uneven gaps.
8. Reconnect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
9. Perform initialization. Refer to TSIB No. PD020-05, "Power System Initialization During PDS."
