Fuel Door Release Actuator: Service and Repair

FUEL LID OPENER MOTOR ASSEMBLY

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT
3. REMOVE TOOL BOX
4. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT NO. 1 TRIM HOOK
a. Remove the 4 bolts and 4 hooks.

5. REMOVE REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE




a. Remove the 3 clips labeled A.
b. Detach the 4 clips to remove the finish plate.

6. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER FRONT




a. Detach the hook.




b. Remove the rope hook.




c. Detach the 4 claws and remove the trim cover.

7. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER INNER LH




a. Using a clip remover, remove the 3 clips and trim cover.

8. REMOVE FUEL FILLER OPENING LID LOCK RETAINER




a. Turn the cable counterclockwise and remove the cable from the retainer.




b. Turn the lock retainer clockwise and remove the lock retainer.

9. REMOVE FUEL LID OPENER MOTOR ASSEMBLY




a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the nut and motor.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL FUEL LID OPENER MOTOR ASSEMBLY




a. Connect the connector.
b. Install the motor and nut.

Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)

2. INSTALL FUEL FILLER OPENING LID LOCK RETAINER




a. Install the lock retainer and turn it counterclockwise as shown in the illustration.




b. Install the cable and turn it clockwise as shown in the illustration.

3. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER INNER LH




a. Install the 3 clips and trim cover.

4. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER FRONT




a. Attach the 4 claws and trim cover.




b. Install the 2 hook.




c. Install the 2 hook.

5. INSTALL REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE




a. Attach the 4 clips labeled B and install the finish plate.
b. Install the 3 clips labeled A.

6. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM HOOK NO.1
a. Install the 4 bolts and 4 hooks.

7. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER SIDE LH
8. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER SIDE RH
9. INSTALL TOOL BOX
10. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT
11. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
12. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

HINT: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
