Side Sensor
Side Airbag Sensor Assy:
SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
REPLACEMENT
HINT:
- The installation procedures are the removal procedures in reverse order. However, only installation procedures requiring additional information are included.
- A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
1. PRECAUTION
Refer to Air Bag Systems; Service Precautions.
2. CONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
3. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY
4. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST PLATE COVER
5. REMOVE WIND DEFLECTOR BOARD ASSEMBLY
6. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST PLATE
7. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY
8. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY
9. REMOVE DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSEMBLY LH
10. REMOVE QUARTER TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY FRONT LH
11. REMOVE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH
a. Disconnect the sensor connector.
b. Remove the 3 nuts and sensor.
12. INSTALL SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH
a. Install the sensor with the 3 nuts.
Torque: 20 N.m (200 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf)
b. Connect the sensor connector.
NOTE:
- Installation of the connector is done with the sensor installed. Make sure the sensor is installed with the specified torque.
- If the sensor has been dropped, or there are cracks dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace the sensor with a new one.
- When installing the sensor, take care that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and is not pinched between other parts.
- After the installation, shake the sensor to check that there is no looseness.
13. INSPECT SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY LH
14. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
15. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative(-) battery terminal.
16. INSPECT SRS WARNING LAMP
