Blower Motor: Service and Repair












OVERHAUL

HINT: The installation procedures are the removal procedures in reverse order. However, only installation procedures requiring additional information are included.

1. SET RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY TO SHIPMENT MODE
a. Take out all CDs.

NOTE: If CD(s) cannot be taken out, do not attempt to take it out forcibly. Send the unit to a repair shop.




b. While simultaneously pressing the "SEEK UP" and "DISC" switches, turn the ignition switch to ACC.






HINT:
- The CD indicator lamp blinks during mode setting and it remains lit after the setting is completed.
- When the mode setting is completed, "SHIPMENT" appears on the display.

c. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

HINT: Disconnecting the cable from the battery.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

3. INSPECT CENTER FRONT WHEEL
4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO.2
5. REMOVE SWITCH & VOLUME CASE
6. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH MODULATOR
7. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
8. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
9. REMOVE DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSEMBLY RH
10. REMOVE DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSEMBLY LH
11. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER RH
12. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH
13. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.1
14. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
15. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER LOWER
16. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER UPPER
17. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY
18. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
19. REMOVE CONSOLE UPPER PANEL GARNISH REAR
20. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY UPPER
21. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONER CONTROL ASSEMBLY
22. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER CENTER
23. CONFIRM RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY SHIPMENT MODE SETTING
24. w/o LEXUS navigation system:
REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD GARNISH SUB-ASSEMBLY

25. w/ LEXUS navigation system:
REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD GARNISH SUB-ASSEMBLY

26. w/ LEXUS navigation system:
REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL GARNISH SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.2

27. w/ LEXUS navigation system:
REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY CENTER

28. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.2
29. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY
30. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET
31. REMOVE BOX PANEL NO.3
32. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY
33. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.2
34. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.1
35. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH
36. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH
37. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH
38. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY




39. REMOVE AIR DUCT NO.2
a. Remove the 2 screws and air duct.




40. REMOVE BLOWER ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the connector and clamp from the blower.
b. Using a screwdriver, detach the claw and disconnect the connector.
c. Remove the 3 screws, bolt and nut.
d. Detach the claw and remove the blower.




41. REMOVE AIR REFINER ELEMENT
a. Remove the air filter cover, air refiner element and frame.




42. REMOVE RECIRCULATION DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 3 screws and recirculation damper servo.




43. REMOVE BLOWER W/FAN MOTOR SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 3 screws and blower w/ fan motor.
