Wiper Motor: Service and Repair
WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLYREPLACEMENT
1. REMOVE FR WIPER ARM LH
a. Remove the bolt and nut, then remove the front wiper arm LH.
2. REMOVE FR WIPER ARM RH
a. Remove the nut and the front wiper arm RH.
3. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH
a. Disengage the clamp.
b. Remove the front fender to cowl side seal RH.
4. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH
5. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Using a clip remover, disengage the 4 clips.
b. Remove the 2 clips, and disengage the 9 claws.
c. Remove the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly.
6. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR & LINK ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the 4 bolts and the windshield wiper motor & link assembly.
7. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the wiper motor cover and rubber cover.
b. Using a screwdriver, disengage the meshing of the rod at the crank arm pivot of the windshield wiper motor assembly.
c. Remove the nut and washer.
d. Put matchmarks on the crank arm assembly and windshield wiper motor assembly (when reinstalling the windshield wiper motor assembly).
e. Remove the 3 bolts and windshield wiper motor assembly from the windshield wiper link assembly.
8. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY
a. Apply MP grease to the crank arm pivot of the windshield wiper motor assembly.
b. Install the windshield wiper motor assembly with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 5.4 Nm (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)
c. Align the matchmarks on the crank arm assembly to windshield wiper motor assembly (when reinstalling the windshield wiper motor assembly).
d. Install the crank arm assembly with the washer and nut.
Torque: 17 Nm (175 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
e. Engage the meshing of the rod to the crank arm pivot of the windshield wiper motor assembly.
9. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR & LINK ASSEMBLY
a. Install the windshield wiper motor & link assembly with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 5.5 Nm (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)
b. Connect the connector.
10. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Engage the 9 claws and install the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly.
b. Install the 2 clips.
c. Engage the 4 clips.
11. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH
a. Engage the clamp and install the front fender to cowl side seal RH.
12. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH
13. INSTALL FR WIPER ARM LH
a. Scrape off the wiper arm serration with a round file or equivalent.
b. Clean the wiper pivot serration with a wire brush.
c. Install the front wiper arm LH with the bolt and nut.
Torque:
Bolt: 5.5 Nm (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)
Nut: 20 Nm (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)
HINT: Hold down the arm hinge by hand in order to fasten the bolt and nut.
14. INSTALL FR WIPER ARM RH
a. Scrape off the wiper arm serration with a round file or equivalent.
b. Clean the wiper pivot serration with a wire brush.
c. Install the front wiper arm RH with the nut.
Torque: 20 Nm (205 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)
HINT: Hold down the arm hinge by hand in order to fasten the nut.
d. Operate the wipers while spraying water or washer fluid on the windshield. Ensure that the wipers function properly and there is no interference with the body.
15. INSPECT AND ADJUST WIPER ARM POINT CONFIRMATION
a. Inspect each of the wiper arm positions after operating the wipers once and turning the wiper switch OFF.
A: 30 to 40 mm (1.18 to 1.57 in.)
B: 65 to 85 mm (2.56 to 3.35 in.)
b. Operate the wipers while spraying water or washer fluid on the windshield. Ensure that the wipers function properly and there is no interference with the body.
