Seat Occupant Sensor: Service and Repair

Occupant Classification ECU (From July, 2003):






OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU (From July, 2003)


REPLACEMENT

HINT: Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

1. PRECAUTION
Refer to Air Bag Systems; Service Precautions.
2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
3. REMOVE FRONT RH SEAT ASSEMBLY




4. REMOVE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU
a. Disconnect the connectors from the occupant classification ECU.
b. Using a screwdriver, remove the occupant classification ECU.

5. INSTALL OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU
a. Check that the ignition switch is off.
b. Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.

NOTE: After removing the terminal, wait for at least 90 seconds before starting the operation.

c. Install the occupant classification ECU.
d. Connect the connectors to the occupant classification ECU.

NOTE:
- If the occupant classification ECU has been dropped, or there are cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace the occupant classification ECU with a new one.
- When installing the occupant classification ECU, take care that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and is not pinched between other parts.

6. INSTALL FRONT RH SEAT ASSEMBLY
7. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
8. OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU INITIALIZATION
9. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
