Rear Knuckle Alignment Link: Service and Repair

REPLACEMENT

HINT:
^ COMPONENTS: See Diagrams; Exploded Views
^ Replace the RH side by the same procedures with LH side.

1. REMOVE WHEEL HUB ORNAMENT SUB-ASSY [42603/98-46]
a) Remove the 10 bolts and wheel hub ornament sub-assy.
2. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
a) Remove the 5 nuts and rear wheel.
3. REMOVE TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSY LH [48706B/98-64]
a) Remove the bolt and disconnect the rear speed sensor wire from the toe control link.
b) Remove the nut.





c) Using SST, disconnect the toe control link from the axle carrier.
SST 09610-20012

NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the dust cover.





d) Place the matchmarks on the adjusting cam and suspension member.
e) Remove the nut, camber adjust cam No. 2, camber adjust cam No. 1 and the toe control link.





4. INSPECT TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSY LH [48706B/98-64]
a) As shown, flip the ball joint stud back and forth 5 times, before installing the nut.
b) Using torque wrench, turn the nut continuously one turn per 2 - 4 seconds and take the torque reading on the 5th turn.
Turning torque: 1.0 - 3.4 Nm (10 - 35 kgf-cm, 9 - 30 inch lbs.)





5. INSTALL TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSY LH [48706B/98-64]
a) Align the matchmarks on the adjusting cam and suspension member.
b) Install the nut, camber adjust cam No. 2, camber adjust cam No. 1 and the toe control link.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)

HINT: After stabilizing the suspension, torque the nuts.

c) Connect the toe control link to the axle carrier with the nut.
Torque: 59 Nm (600 kgf-cm, 44 ft. lbs.)
d) Connect the rear speed sensor wire to the toe control link with the bolt.
Torque: 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.)
6. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
a) Install the front wheel with the 5 nuts.
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)
7. INSTALL WHEEL HUB ORNAMENT SUB-ASSY [42603/98-46]
a) Install the wheel hub ornament sub-assy.
Torque: 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft. lbs.)
8. INSPECT REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT
