Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair
REPLACEMENT1. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR BRACE CENTER
2. REMOVE RR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE REAR LOWER LH
3. REMOVE RR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE REAR LOWER RH
4. SEPARATE OXYGEN SENSOR
5. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE
6. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO. 1
7. SEPARATE FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSY
a. Set the shift lever to N position.
b. Remove the nut and disconnect the rod.
8. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHAFT LEVER RH
a. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
b. Remove the nut and control shaft lever with the rod.
9. REMOVE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSY
a. Pry out the lock plate and remove the nut.
b. Remove the bolt and pull out the park/neutral position switch.
10. INSTALL PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSY
a. Install the park/neutral position switch.
b. Temporarily install the bolt.
c. Place a new lock plate and tighten the nut.
Torque: 6.9 Nm (70 kgf-cm, 61 inch lbs.)
d. Temporarily install the control shaft lever.
e. Turn the lever counterclockwise until it stops, then turn it clockwise 2 notches.
f. Remove the control shaft lever.
g. Align the groove with neutral basic line.
h. Hold the switch in position and tighten the bolt.
Torque: 12.8 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft. lbs.)
i. Using a screwdriver, stake the nut with the lock plate.
11. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHAFT LEVER RH
a. Install the nut and control shaft lever with the rod.
Torque: 15.7 Nm (160 kgf-cm, 12 ft. lbs.)
12. CONNECT FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSY
a. Temporarily install the rod to the connecting rod swivel with the nut.
13. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION
14. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO. 1
15. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE
16. INSTALL OXYGEN SENSOR
17. INSTALL RR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE REAR LOWER RH
18. INSTALL RR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE REAR LOWER LH
19. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR BRACE CENTER
20. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION
21. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSY
22. CHECK EXHAUST GAS LEAK
