Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

1. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER

2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET




3. REMOVE DRIVE BELT
Loosen the belt tension by turning the drive belt tensioner counterclockwise, and remove the dive belt.

HINT: The tensioner pulley bolt has a left-hand thread.




4. REMOVE PS PUMP PULLEY
Using SST, remove the nut and PS pump pulley.

SST 09960-10010 (09962-01000, 09963-01000)

5. REMOVE ALTERNATOR
a. Disconnect the generator connector.
b. Remove the rubber cap and nut, and disconnect the generator wire.




c. Disconnect these parts:
1. Disconnect ground cable.
2. Disconnect wire (for generator wire) from clamp on cord clip.
3. Disconnect wire (for generator connector) from clamp on cord clip.
Take out the vinyl tape, and disconnect the wire from the cord clip.
4. Disconnect PS oil hose from No.1 oil pan.




d. Remove the nut, bolt, stay and generator.
e. Remove the 2 clamps from the cord clips on the generator.

INSTALLATION




1. INSTALL GENERATOR
a. Install the generator and stay with the nut and bolt.

Torque: 39 N.m (400 kgf.cm, 29 ft.lbf)

b. Install the clamp (for generator wire) to the cord clip on alternator.




c. Install these parts:
1. Install the ground cable.
2. Install the wire (for generator wire) to clamp on cord clip.
3. Install the wire (for generator connector) to clamp on cord clip.
- Install the clamp to the wire with a vinyl tape.
- Install the clamp to the cord clip.
4. Install the PS oil hose to No.1 oil pan.




2. INSTALL PS PUMP PULLEY
Using SST, install the PS pump pulley with the nut.

SST 09960-10010 (09962-01000, 09963-01000)

Torque: 43 N.m (440 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf)




3. INSTALL DRIVE BELT
Install the drive belt by turning the drive belt tensioner counterclockwise.

HINT: The tensioner pulley bolt has a left-hand thread.

4. PERFORM ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

5. INSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET

6. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER

REPLACEMENT




1. REPLACE FRONT BEARING
a. Remove the 4 screws, bearing retainer and bearing.
b. Using SST and a press, press out the bearing.

SST 09950-60010 (09951-00260, 09952-06010)




c. Using SST and a press, press in a new bearing.

SST 09950-60010 (09951-00520)

d. Install the bearing retainer with the 4 screws.

Torque: 3.0 N.m (31 kgf.cm, 27 in.lbf)




2. REPLACE REAR BEARING
a. Using SST remove the bearing cover (outside) and bearing.

SST 09820-00021

NOTE: Be careful not to damage the fan.

b. Remove the bearing cover (inside).




c. Place the bearing cover (inside) on the rotor.
d. Using SST and a press, press in a new bearing.

e. Using SST push in the bearing cover (outside).
