Introduction

The Customize feature for the Lexus Diagnostic Tester allows Lexus Dealers to customize many of the electrical functions on 2002 model year GS 430 and GS 300 vehicles to match individual customer desires. This bulletin will provide you with a comprehensive list of available features for customization on these models only. Individual bulletins will be released for each 2002 Lexus model.

NOTE:
These functions require version 8.1a, or later, software. Diagnostic Tester software can be updated using TIS. Click the link on the TIS home page to download.

Applicable Vehicles
^ 2002 model year GS 430 and GS 300 vehicles.

Additional Diagnostic Tester Kits or Program Cards may be ordered by calling OTC at 1-800-933-8335.

Service Procedure

When modifying customize functions, a detailed description, including the "Item Selected", the old setting and the new setting, must be entered into the Lexus National Service History as a vehicle note.

EXAMPLE:

If changing the WIRELESS BUZZ VOLUME function from MID2 to MAX, enter the following information into the National Service History Vehicle Notes:

Customize Service - WIRELESS BUZZ VOLUME / Old - MID2 / New - MAX

NOTE:
Having these records in the National Service History is very important. If a customer decides that they preferred a previous setting, they may not be able to provide the Dealer with a correct description of the function or its previous setting. The National Service History can be used in conjunction with the customer's explanation to verify that the correct function is being reset.

Operation Procedure

The following steps show the user how to access the "FUNCTION SELECT" screen for Procedure customizing.

1. Insert the key into the ignition key cylinder and turn to the ON position.

2. Connect the LEXUS Diagnostic Tester to DLC3 and press the "ON" key.





3. Using the Diagnostic Tester, follow the screen flow shown to access the customize function select menu.

NOTE:
Before changing any customize item, be sure to record the current value.
