Activation When Disposing of Front Seat Outer Belt Pretensioner
DISPOSE OF FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH (WHEN NOT INSTALLED WITH VEHICLE)a. SRS airbag system.
b. Remove the front door scuff plate RH
c. Remove the rear door scuff plate RH
d. Remove the front door opening trim weather strip RH
e. Remove the rear door opening trim weather strip RH
f. Remove the center pillar garnish lower RH
g. Remove the front seat outer belt assembly RH
h. Activate the pretensioner.
1. Cut the seat belt in the illustrated position.
2. Short the clip and terminal of the SST.

3. Connect the SST with the pretensioner.
HINT: When connecting the SST with the pretensioner, the locking button of the pretensioner connector should be in the locking condition.
4. Place the front seat outer belt on the ground, with the pretensioner connector facing upward, and cover it with a disc wheel with tire as shown in the illustration
5. Fully stretch the SST and put a battery at least 10 m (33 ft) apart from the pretensioner.
CAUTION:
- Work must be done in an open and flat safe space.
- Avoid a residential area
- The pretensioner produces sizeable exploding sound when it is activated, so perform the work outdoor where it will not disturb the nearby residents.
6. Enclose the front seat outer belt, as shown in the illustration.
7. Check the security around the working place, and then connect the clip of SST to the battery negative.
8. Connecting the terminal of SST with the battery positive, activate the pretensioner.
CAUTION:
- Be sure that no one is present inside the vehicle and also near the vehicle before it is activated.
- Be sure to warn the people around the working place loudly before it is activated.
i. Dispose of the pretensioner.
1. Put the activated pretensioner in a vinyl bag, tie the end tightly and dispose of it in the same way as other general parts.
CAUTION:
- Do not touch the activated pretensioner in 30 minutes, because it is very hot in a part.
- keep the activated pretensioner away from water.
- Use gloves and safety glasses when handling the activated pretensioner.
- Always wash your hands with water after the work. Never dispose of an inactivated pretensioner.
